INDEPENDENCE DAY was during the time of Bill Clinton. In the theater, I called out GOODBYE CLINTON when the WH was destroyed. Some in the theater laughed and cheered the remark.

I watched that one Summer night as a kid on the late show.
I bet no one else ever even heard of it.

Actually, it's available streaming on Netflix and in addition to 38 reviews, it has an average of 2.4 stars from over 19,000 viewers. So more people have heard of it than just you and me. In a country with 310,000,000, that means about 1 in every 17,000 Americans has seen it [and I would guess that not everybody who saw it actually rated it, and plenty of people have seen it somewhere other than Netflix.]
Anyway, not all that arcane, and certainly one of the worst ever.

The first and the bulk of ufo reports come from the time period of the three to five years right after WW-II. That was when people still bombing around in prop-driven planes at 200 - 250 mph first started seeing jets go by at 500 - 600. There were prop-driven fighters in WW-II which could hit 400 - 430 or so at top speed but even those couldn’t cruise at that sort of speed.
