President Barack Obama says he's sending about 200 more U.S. troops to Iraq to protect Americans and the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad.
The announcement will bring to nearly 800 the total number of U.S. forces in and around Iraq to train local forces, secure the embassy and protect American interests.

This is irresponsible. Simply planting more American military force on the ground without sufficient air support and artillery means our forces are in exactly the same situation as those guys whose dead bodies were dragged through the streets of Mogadishu.

These are 200 COMBAT TROOPS (boots on ground people), who supposedly are there to secure the Embassy....in addition to the 300 already sent.

The problem is 200 combat troops means a lack of real protection for such a small number...unbelievable. This President has no clue what he is doing militarily.
I was okay with no boots on ground, because it is a civil war of sectarian violence.....the opportunity by the war won during GW Bush has already been squandered. This is very different....the three sects are no longer co operating with a government.
REMEMBER MOGADISHU, SOMALIA in 92-94, the clans were fighting and then all turned on the Americans, who were there for humanitarian purposes w/ UN, but we took sides causing a horrible event “Black Hawk Down”...similar.

I have seen reports that bring the total of our troops to 800, and read a report today that says there are 1000 Marines on ships in the area. There are also reports we have armed drones flying. Not sure what he is trying to stir, does he plan to accidentally get into the middle of that mess?
