Although former IRS official Lois Lerner refuses to speak, pleading the fifth amendment, her attorney spoke on her behalf regarding the controversy over two years of missing IRS emails.
William Taylor III said that accusations by Republicans that she is hiding something is silly she doesnt know what happened Its a little brazen to think she did this on purpose.
The IRS and Democrats contend that the emails were lost due to a hard drive crash. Yet, as Politico reported, it so happens that the computer glitch was concomitant with the 2009 time period in which Cincinnati IRS agents started delaying the approvals of Tea Party groups vying for 501(c)(4) non-profit status. Notably, the not-for- profit designation would have allowed the conservative groups the capacity to carry out a limited amount of political activity.

What is “silly” is a lawyer using that defense.
That is exactly the way the the folks who try to parse “the meaning of is” think!
The missing emails are just a red herring. Nothing she said in them is incriminating.
It’s the emails she sent under an alias that count. She isn’t stupid, she’s been conducting business this way for a long time. That’s why she had so many meetings with Obama. Nothing on record.
This whole quest for the emails is smoke and mirrors to delay and confuse.
That’s why she took the 5th you f’en moron.
Of course. This was a strawman argument. Nobody was claiming that Lois Lerner was going around destroying computers and mainframes that contained incriminating e-mails. The point is that somebody in the Obama Administration destroyed those computers and mainframes. That was not denied by Lois Lerner's attorney.
well said... didn’t even need the sarcasm tag it is solo obvious
It’s Silly to Think She Destroyed Emails
Who said she destroyed emails ,they said it was a computer crash ,so is her Attorney giving a hint and does she have copies ,going around with her nose that high in the air I think she’s dying to tell someone ,after all she started it at that conference or what ever it was
Yeah, there is that MSN.com email account they know she used to communicate "off the record". I wish they would subpoena the records of that account.
.... And so ... the thought is given to the low information voters upon whom the destiny of America lies.
I have had hard drives fail for various reasons over the past 20+ years. My emails were gone, files corrupted.... While working for a large corporation, on at least two occasions I was able to get everything recovered by their IT departments. On my personal computer I had similar failures and was ultimately able to recover my “lost” emails and other data with very little actually irretrievably lost. There is no way the IRS story holds up - this is a coverup that makes Nixon’s lost/erased 18 minutes of tape child’s play. It would be like saying all the Whitehouse tapes had been damaged beyond repair - anybody think Congress would have bought that with Nixon?
Is this precedented? Did anyone ask Bill Taylor I and II for their opinions?
>> It’s silly...
Practically goofy.
Sorry. Found it on a Canadian site (nationalpost.com).
Who said “Tell a lie BIG enough, and all will believe”???
It’s Silly to Think She Destroyed Emails.....
It’s absolutely “stupid” (not silly) to believe that when she took the “fifth” that the gears of government coverup were not grinding at full speed to erase all evidence of their criminal acts.
