The first delivery of Russian Sukhoi fighter jets arrived in Iraq on Saturday, the countrys Defense Ministry said. Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki is hoping the jets will make a key difference in the fight against ISIS.
The Iraqi Ministry of Defense on Sunday confirmed receiving five Su-25 fighter jets in accordance with the deal with Moscow. The jets were delivered by a Russian An-124 transport plane in a dismantled state, and are expected to be set up and become operational within 3-4 days.
The Sukhoi Su-25 is an air-ground support and anti-terrorism mission aircraft. In these difficult times, we are in great need of such aircraft. With Gods help, we will be able to deploy them to support our ground forces on a mission against the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant militants within the next 3-4 days, Iraqi Army Lieutenant General Anwar Hamad Amen Ahmed told RTs Ruptly news agency at an airport receiving the jets.
According to Ahmed, Iraq will wage a massive attack on insurgents with the help of the jets.

Getting the Frogfoot.
Russia knows about the threat from the bearded savages. This country’s leadership has chosen to ignore them.
Wow, that was fast, Harry Reid would still be blocking the
motion for Piper Cubs.
Reporters and military stuff. They can never seem to get it right. The Su-25 isn’t a fighter jet, it’s a close air support aircraft. Kind of a dim Russian attempt at an A-10. The Iraqis had a few and they didn’t fare well.
Obama has created Al-Qaeda-stan, maybe the 4th biggest oil producer on Earth.
And now Putin is making friends with this new country.
Nice, huh...?
Lessay Obama is SUPER nice, but you were Prez and you were really bad:
What has Obama done that you would have done differently...?
“The jets were delivered by a Russian An-124 transport plane in a dismantled state, and are expected to be set up and become operational within 3-4 days.”
Who wants to be the first one to fly one of these things?
Antonov An-22 Antheus Cock

Putin is no friend of our USA, but those attack jets are air assets the Iraqi government needs now. I hope Putin sent along some Russian pilots as they are much more skilled than the ones in Iraq. Obummer will dither until the bad Islamists flying black flags run all the Mid East.
There is a crap ton of trained up Chechens fighting in Syria and Iraq. By many accounts the Chechens are even highly esteemed for their leadership and cohesion. Let ISIS establish a state and those Chechens start eyeballing their homeland inside Russia as a future part of the caliphate.
Putin is playing the game to win. Collecting resources and arming new allies. Instead of opening up north american oil and mineral exploration Obama shuts down hundreds of power plants a year.
Really?
You REALLY think Putin is buddy-buddy with Al-Qaeda?
Dayummmm. Just dayyyummmm.
“Obama has created Al-Qaeda-stan, maybe the 4th biggest oil producer on Earth.”
We should have torched the oil wells when we split.
Or those nice jets will make nice new toys for ISIS when they get control of Iraq. The have all the wonderful USA toys we gave to the cowards who ran and gave away all the toys.
This country’s leadership welcomes the threat from the bearded savages.
If the good guys....just about every country except US, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar can put it together, they can encircle ISIS and kill the cancer before it spreads to the Med, to Turkey (NATO member), and then there's no stopping them, or so it seems.
You are saying these two a/c are in the same class ?
Perhaps I am misunderstanding you.
Russia fills the vacuum caused by Obama’s incompetence. Reports I’ve been reading indicate the pilots will be Iranian as Iraq doesn’t have any type of an Air Force or trained pilots.
No. Not at all.
They must have some trained pilots -- as we WERE in the midst of delivering 36 brand new F-16s to them.
