This week, the trailer for the latest installment in the Hunger Games series, Mockingjay, was released. As I was watching this trailer, something really struck me: the themes touched on in this film are essentially the endgame of todays American liberalism.
An all-controlling Big Government that forces unity, prosperity; its government that calls on you to sacrifice for the greater good. I am not suggesting that todays Democrat Party will lead us literally to the society depicted in the Hunger Games series, but there are some lessons we can learn when we watch these films based on the dystopian novels.

The author should read up on North Korea
I would say we’re headed more to “Soylent Green” than “Hunger Games”. And, it’s the opening scenes of Soylent Green that are more telling and foreboding than the more famous ending scene - for example mobs of people rioting in the streets for food, and only the politically well-connected being able to get real meat.
My most likely future dystopia would be Logan’s Run. A whole society decieved as sheep, crammed into dense cities while the rest of the world has been abandoned. A dystopia that doesn’t look like a dictatorship , which can meet most of your needs, except when you want to be different.
or maybe like Brave New World
Have read all of these and I think Brave New World is the closest.

Yes, good point.
Books 2 and 3 are fine. If you realize the characters and the environment are maturing over time.
The Katniss Everdeen in book 3 is a lot more interesting than in book 1, IMHO.
Watch the movies after you read the books. I found the movies added a lot of depth to my understanding.
I wish conservatives would take the time to understand this series to be able to speak to young people.

No, thanks. Not interested in any material produced by the America-hating leftists.
Suit yourself, but I also find hijacking their symbols to send a conservative message worthwhile.
Or 31.
Bookmarked. Watching, now. :)
