This is the same thing as Congress giving free stuff from taxpayer dollars to people they feel sorry for.

Cracker Barrel facebook page is getting scorched over this.

He should have paid for the items, then given them to the poor guy. However,I think I’ll just avoid Cracker Barrel for a couple years.
Whoever wrote this story is unfamiliar with the use of the apostrophe. A quick glance shows three—there may be more— instances of “its” when “it’s” (the contraction of “it” and “is”) is indicated. Then, I see a “hes” (which is not a word—in place of “he’s”) and “dont” instead of “don’t.”
Don’t they teach English anymore?
If they wrote him up for getting himself a fountain drink on the job, they must be AWFUL to work for. Heck, when I was a kid working at Pizza Hut, we could have whatever we wanted on the job except beer.
During the time he was employed, he violated the company's policies regarding consuming food without paying or giving away free food, on five separate occasions.
Mr. Koblenzer received multiple counselings and written warnings reminding him about the company's policies and the consequences associated with violating them.
Cracker Barrel doesn't deserve any criticism for this. It's nice that the guy wanted to be helpful and generous to people in need, but he shouldn't be doing that on his employer's dime. If he was truly generous then he should have paid for these things out of his own pocket.
Then why did he make a point to let people know why he was fired?
Vet or not he broke company policy, and the law, on more then one occasion. CB is not in the business to give out free food to every person that walks in the door.
I am not heartless, I am just tired of the entitlement culture we are nurturing in this country.
Sorry but I am on Cracker’s side. Compassion is good but when word gets out to every other homeless person they will get free stuff they will keep on coming. They have a business to run.
Generosity with someone else’s money is not generosity, it’s theft. I’m on Crackerbarrel’s side in this.
I wonder how many corn muffins they throw away on any given day.
Looks like they fired him over a theft.
Where is the Justice Dept, the very idea that a Restaurant can use a RACIST DEROGATORY TERM LIKE CRACKER is offensive and hurtful to White People, they should be SHUT DOWN tomorrow.
Furthermore, what does being a 73-year old veteran have anything to do with this story? Sounds like a deliberate attempt to make the fired employee look like a victim of mean ol' Cracker Barrel.
Sorry, but Fox News is just as much garbage as the rest of them.
I don’t know anything about Cracker Barrel-never been there-but haven’t they been painted as mean-spirited before this?
Just posted this on their site (or TRIED to):
This Vietnam era AF vet really APPRECIATES that your store in VENICE, FLORIDA fired a 73 year-old VET for giving a HOMELESS MAN A MUFFIN AND A PACKET OF CONDIMENTS.
Until this is corrected and the vet rehired, we shall remain FORMER CRACKER BARREL CUSTOMERS AND WILL SHARE THIS STORY WITH SEVERAL MILLION INTERNET FRIENDS.
(Any guesses how long this post will stay up? It will be measured in NANOSECONDS!)
What difference does it make (to Fox17) that the person fired was a veteran? Veterans are not little gods, and the employee’s prior military service played no part in this news story. To a nation of ignorant sheep, “veterans” are becoming a do-no-wrong special class above other citizens, just as “law enforcement” has already become. This is not a good thing for our republic.
It might have taken a hard-ass edge off the image of the restaurant
chain if they explained that charitable giving is something they do
at the management or corporate level and the employees are all
made aware of that fact. Still, I wonder if the employee in question
might have been placed on probation or suspended as a consequence
instead of being terminated.
Cracker Barrel must be follow one or more of these cities.
