In spite of their frustration, Palin soon had the crowd laughing as she peppered her speech with political jokes and taking shots against President Obama and his allies. West, a University of Tennessee graduate, led the crowd in a rendition of the song Rocky Top, much to the delight of the crowd.
Palin took the stage acknowledging that Sevierville was Dolly Parton’s home town, explaining that she once dressed up as Parton for Halloween when she was in High School.
She also reminded them that the media was also trying to sound a death knell for the Tea Party but it was very much alive.
“Us bitter clingers and wingers, we ignored those yappin' little lapdogs in the media and with a new social media kind of reporting you know we were able to kick those little varmints away, we were able to ignore what it was that they were saying,” she said.
Palin held up Sen. Ted Cruz as an example of a Washington politician that was fighting for them, and explained that it was more important than ever to send him allies in his fight against the Washington establishment.
“He is there for a reason not a season, and that’s what we need more of,” she said. “We need to send the good guys reinforcements to take the battle to Capitol Hill for us.”
Although she hasn’t endorsed Joe Carr yet in his primary, Palin dropped a hint to Tennessee voters that he was one of their allies.
“We need to be pretty discerning here of what kind of ‘Carr’ we send to D.C.,”

Cuccinelli in Va and now McDaniel in MS have nearly mortally wounded me, even though both elections were stolen with RAT and libertarian help.
Not going to fret about MS anymore: if most of that state wants to stay on the gravy train, let them.
Now I’m looking/hoping for supposedly ‘safe’ rat Senate seats who could become Cantorized.
How about sticking with actual argumentation and leave off this attempted trashing of the reputation of a venerable FReeper?

Because he is now regarded as a contemptible puke. Even the establishment types know this was a line that shouldn't have been crossed. I doubt it serves as a precedent.
In here, he is. Out there...not so much. That is why the GOP needs to be punished in a way that is unmistakable.

Keep in mind how dark it seemed in the beginning of WWII..we lost many a battle, until we started to turn it all around and finally won the war on all fronts. Be of good faith, know we’re going to lose some and win some. Never give up, never stop fighting, is my motto. There are going to be hard times ahead, and some of us are going to suffer greatly..that’s what liberalism is all about, until we get rid of them in Washington. Just telling you what I read on a post here. Most of the GOP, even the worst (with the exception of people like our old friend “Maverick” McCain), have voted with their party in the Senate. It just doesn’t do a lot of good because we don’t have the numbers, and the Dems have such party control that none of them will “cross the aisle” to vote with the GOP on anything.

Anyone who pays attention to politics knows that what he did was out of bounds. That’s why you had the lawyerly, barely-committal statements from the senators who were asked about the outcome of the race. When Cochran walks into a room these days, it probably gets quiet. He and everyone knows he crossed the line, even establishment types.
As for punishments, punish away. It won’t amount to anything. What needs to happen is that the conservative base needs to be better educated about who it is they’re voting for. If that legwork had been done, this race would have gone to McDaniel.
It would be nice to hear something, but I wouldn’t hold my breath. However, somewhere in the threads on this, there is either a comment citing an article that said this has raised a lot of concern in GOP headquarters, if only because they are afraid it will affect their fundraising across the board. Which it will.
I don’t think they’ll try it again. For one thing, this was an unusual election under unusual circumstances, so they couldn’t do precisely the same thing again. But they will do things like use vicious and distorted attack ads, etc., as we saw in the last campaign. Romney particularly distinguished himself by his viciousness and lies - against other GOP candidates. When it came to attacking the Dems, of course, he was silent. So while I don’t think the GOP/Dem alliance will do anything quite so brazen again, they will certainly use dirty tactics.
I think it would help in this case if the GOP leaders would formally repudiate the tactics, but it’s a good ol’ boys club, and good ol’ boys never criticize each other.

Could be. I would think his overall conservative rating, however, also reflects his positions on things that probably never even come to a vote. Does it refer only to his vote for bills that are before the Senate, or does it cover other things in his career (such as his campaign promises, which were certainly not conservative)?
I’ve been thinking about how this could play out, since it doesn’t seem in can be reversed. For one thing, many people have said that he probably won’t serve out his term and that his seat will go to somebody completely off the wall, such as Haley Barbour’s wife (IIRC), etc. So maybe MS conservatives should be quietly preparing for that battle, not to mention getting things in place for 2016 (convention delegates, etc.). I think the important thing is not to be taken by surprise again.
Frankly, the only people I think are “operatives” are people urging Mississippians to vote for the Dem.
Other people may disagree with you on tactics and even on candidates, which is no sin, btw. But anybody who’s actively urging support for the other side is betraying the cause regardless of why he’s doing it.
Cochran is not going to really change things in Washington like McDaniel would have.
GOP does not equal real conservative in 95 percent of the cases. Cochran used a liberal smear message to win the election and proved what he really is in his heart like most Republicans.
I agree with conservatives who choose not to vote for Cochran in November.
I will not vote for most Republicans including my governor Tom Corbett here in Pennsylvania because they like Cochran have proven by their actions they are not real conservatives.

Cochran’s not going to change anything. He’s just a number, but we need those numbers if the good people who get elected (obviously, not in MS!) want to be able to do anything.
