Sen. Thad Cochrans second-round primary victory may be nullified if Chris McDaniels team can show the margin of victory was less than the number of people who wrongly voted in both Democratic and GOP primaries.
Its tedious, but it is a simple task [to check and] Mississippi state law is very clear on this, said Bill Pascoe, a political consultant for Independent Womens Voice, which backed McDaniel.
Last July, the mayoral election for the states fourth largest city, Hattiesburg, was nullified after the losing candidate showed that the 37-vote margin of victory was smaller than the pool of suspect absentee ballots.
Those absentee ballots included 36 that were delivered to the Democratic mayors wife, and were later filled out by jail inmates, including a felon who was disbarred from voting.
McDaniel took the first step June 26 to reverse his defeat by asking the Mississippi GOP Chairman Joe Nosef to help McDaniels volunteers inspect the so-called pollbooks.
Those books record who cast a ballot in the June 3 Democratic primary and in the June 24 Republican primary runoff. If the number of voters have cast ballots in both elections is smaller than Cochrans margin of victory, Pascoe said, the court will schedule a third election.

Doesn't he mean larger? Or am I confused?
I think it obvious Cochran topped this election by hook and crook.
If conservatives are going to win in this corrupted system, each of them must be willing to fight like SUPERMAN!
I commend McDaniel taking on this fight for Truth, Justice and the American way.
The paragraph describing what happened in Hattiesburg describes it better.....if there are more questionable ballots than the margin of victory...then election can be redone
Which means McDaniel has a good chance of getting a new election...if MS GOP-DNC doesn’t burn ballots first
Let’s roll, Chris!!
“Doesn’t he mean larger? Or am I confused?”
He must have meant larger here.
Anyway, good to know there is already a precedent in Mississippi. I hope McDaniel holds tight.
Chris is destroying any future chance he may have at a statewide or national office. Every Republican state official and 43 of the state’s 52 state senators endorsed Cochran. These people have long memories.
Big deal.
Why would he want to be friends with cheaters and liars.
Maybe us true conservatives can cling to our long memories as well.
Doesn’t he mean larger? Or am I confused?
No it does not mean larger.
If McDaniels can demonstrate that widespread fraud or irregularities that violate election laws were present, he can demonstrate the election was fundamentally tainted.
It will be a mess and even larger numbers of crossover votes in the second election may well cause him to lose again.
The Democrats are having a wonderful time with this and the first thing that his Democrat opponent , Rep Childers did was call for a series of public debates with the mentally failing Sen Cochran
Or would you rather have him go along to get along like the Rinos we currently have in leadership positions?
Rarely does pursuing the truth work in the USA. The people demand the lies instead.
Sen. Thad Cochrans second-round primary victory may be nullified if Chris McDaniels team can show the margin of victory was less than the number of people who wrongly voted in both Democratic and GOP primaries.
Looks to me as if Republican state officials colluded with Democrats and committed fraud to prevent him from attaining national office already, so the horse is out of the barn on that threat.
Many were saying he just 'take it', but this type of fraud must be fought against and exposed!
If he wins, he will be the next senator.
“Every Republican state official and 43 of the states 52 state senators endorsed Cochran. These people have long memories.”
So do the voters.
great point.
America needs to get rid of politicians who have no honor or integrity and instead for the most part are corrupt and self-absorbed.
Actually I just looked at some of your recent past posts on this subject....
you do condone RINOS and their reaching across the aisle.
I am sure Karl Rove loves you.
And so he did. But a news report (which might not even quote him accurately) isn’t the McDaniel legal filing.
The elephant in Mississippi seems to be getting corrupt and sick. Those with vengeance in mind may end up destroying themselves.
