It seems as though the racist accusations have turned on First Lady Michelle Obama after she made a grammar gaffe on Monday while speaking about part-time job salaries. Unlike when she inappropriately slanders someone or something for being racist, in her recent offending comments she was in fact acting the part.
The First Lady used the word gypped while describing the earnings for part-time jobs, with specific regard to when she herself was a working mother as an ABC news reporter at the White House Summit on Working Families. The remark is now drawing some criticism from media outlets for the racial slur.

Michelle Obama was a news reporter? When?
I’ll be the first to admit, I did not know ~gypped~ was a racial slur. Learned something new today.
After everything she’s done, this is what she’s in “hot water” for? That’s a common phrase that I’ve heard throughout my over five decades.
Yeah, I’m sure her mindless followers will leave her in droves. Come on.
“Gypped” is a word I and most I knew used now and then as kids and young adults and we had no idea where the word came from. It just meant cheated to us.
But Moochelle and most adults now should well know where it comes from in these PC times.
Give me a break. Whoever it is that is upset needs to get a life. MO should NOT apologize. Her comment clearly was not intended with malice.
Yeah, she said “gypped”. She meant to say ‘jewed”.
They put the demonstrators into a Paddy Wagon and drove them off to jail.
How many people complain about this term..?
None, because Irish have LIVES.
in her defense, no one knows where that comes from. It’s like when you say there is a “chink in the armor”
At one point she gave the Romani some respect, but it turns out she’s an indian giver.
Gypped is supposed to be derived from Gypsy. Today, that’s considered racist against Gypsies or as they are otherwise known the Roma. As another poster indicated, it is akin to saying someone “jewed you down.”
I still don't see how it's a racial slur. Just one more thing for someone in the 2% to whine about.
Seems pretty niggardly of them to go after her for that.
gypped comes from “gypsy” which comes from “egyptian”.
how many gypsies are there left to offend? gypsies aren’t just one race of people. they came from a bunch of different countries and peoples. and for the large part they earned that reputation.
if she had said jewed, that’d be a different story.
Yeah, she said gypped. She meant to say jewed.
At least it wasn’t “welshed.”
Well I hope they don’t get off scot-free!
