Gee, ya mean our electoral process has been corrupted, undermined and compromised?

This is earth shaking block buster news...

I had no idea this level of corruption was going on!

This may be a county-by-county thing. It’s the board of elections of the county that usually sets the voter policies (within certain areas).

Well that stinks.
Leave it blank, then.

I essentially agree with you. But the scandalous tactics employed by the establishment Republican party here merit drastic tactics or THEY WILL REPEAT THEM.

The only appropriate response is to make sure it backfires on them and a Democrat takes that seat. They can easily be replaced in the next election and the GOP majority swings on the success of one seat, we are screwed anyway.

I guess this means there’ll be 2 Democrat candidates for Senator this coming election;
1. Travis Childers-the one who’s always been honest and above-board re: his true party affiliation.
2. Thad Cochran-the Democrat mole (or weasel based on his sleazy campaign) who was forced to reveal his true self when his political life was jeopardized.
Seriously, is there any real political difference between the two of them? I deliberately avoided using the word “ideological” because the despicable image of Thad crawling to the Democrats and begging for their support against a Republican clearly shows me Thad’s only ideology is the one he learned from fellow Democrat Al Gore, “win whatever it takes!” At least Childers will be a fresh individual that isn’t corrupted by 40+ years in Washington as our present Senator clearly is now. And this Fall when he starts running his ads how can Thad Cochran claim to be opposed to the Democrat Party when he’s beholden to them for being there to run against them in the first place?
No, I see no reason for Miss. Republicans to bother with the election this November. To quote from “Mrs. Robinson” by Simon and Garfunkle, “Anyway you look at it you lose.”...

Run a Third Party Challenge—and let the Democrat win—Thad Needs to know that making a deal with the Devil isn’t the answer. The revenge of the Tea Party must be swift and terrible.

You would do well not to argue math with me.

If I have the only vote and I cast it for you, you have one, your opponent has zero.

If I don’t cast my vote, you have zero and your opponent has zero.

If I cast the vote for your opponent, he has one, you have zero. The difference between casting my vote for you, or for your opponent is 2. The difference between casting a vote for you or not voting is 1, which is 1/2 the value of casting my vote for someone.

You are 100% correct!!! Childers either changes parties and runs as a Consrvative/Independent or Cochran wins...hands down!!! African-American Obamabots were used and abused by their Democrat leaders abetted by the Republican Establishment, once again!!!

They are the forever, adrift-at-sea lost souls!!! They must like being kept in forever, economic slavery by Obama, their CBC and their NAACP!!! Maybe they will wake up one day soon....but...I would suggest you not hold your breath!!! Hey.....How’s that “Obama...”Hope & Change” workin’ out for you folks???

And the GOPe encouraged it.

People have to wake up and realize, they are every bit the enemy as the Democrats are.

I am truly sorry you are handicapped with common core math skills, but I will reiterate - because repetition is the foundation of learning.

If neither A nor B have any votes
A vote for A gives A one more vote than B, or +1
A vote for B gives B one more vote than A, or -1
A vote for neither leaves them both equal or 0

The difference between voting for A and voting for B is 1 - (-1) which is 2
The difference between voting for A or B and not voting at all is either 1 - 0 or 0 - (-1). Both equal 1
1 is EXACTLY 1/2 of 2.

Therefor, the value of a vote cast is double the value of an uncast vote.

Suppose you want to punish B. If you don’t vote for either A or B (assuming they are the only viable candidates), then you have punished B by withholding your vote - a punishment value of 1.

But if you punish B by voting for A, the difference is 2, and twice the punishment is given.

This is all straightforward mathematics. Hope it helps your understanding.

How have the past few years worked out for you? If you want more of that, keep voting for the same folks you’ve been voting for - but don’t expect anything to change.

Cochran IS the enemy.

Oh, I agree! He should be DEPRIVED of votes! However, I oppose the idea of voting for the Democrat as a way to do that.

Voting for Cochran OR voting for the Democrat, is voting for the enemy.

The only way out of this, whether it's in the Mississippi race or whether it's in the 2016 general, is to leave anger and desire for vengeance (which really is what motivates conservatives to vote Democrat because they're so angry at the GOPe for betraying them) at the door, put it behind, and focus SOLELY on voting FOR people who, if they are elected, will MOVE RIGHT.

Suggestions to "vote for the Democrat to show those Republicans a thing or two!" or "vote for the liberal Republican because it's how to vote 'against' the liberal Democrat" are equally flawed and destined for equally bad consequences.

Thank you for confirming the soundness of my reasoning - because my math in this case is infallible.

Yes - a vote, by its very nature, can be cast for and against. If we had unlimited votes to give, this would not be the case. But casting a vote for one candidate rewards that candidate and it deprives the other candidate(s) of that vote.

In this case, I am voting FOR the destruction of the gop. The more dangerous and dishonest of the two parties. They claim to hold my values, but fail to act upon them, and usually act more like the dems. The dems, on the other hand, are honest about their socialist beliefs. So I am at least voting for philosophical integrity.

The gop is more dangerous because while it lives, it takes resources from true conservative efforts by pretending to be what it is not. There are many parasites in the plant and animal kingdoms that do this very thing. And because of their similarities to the desired species are much harder to eradicate.

Clarifying addition to my post 212 above:

The only way out of this, whether it's in the Mississippi race or whether it's in the 2016 general, is to leave anger and desire for vengeance (which really is what motivates conservatives to vote Democrat because they're so angry at the GOPe for betraying them) at the door, put it behind, and focus SOLELY on voting FOR people even if they belong to a no-name party or are "independent", and even if they don't have much chance of winning, who, if they are elected, will MOVE RIGHT

Yes - a vote, by its very nature, can be cast for and against.

You confuse "reasoning" with "rationalization."

Since there is not any difference between Cochran and Childers as far as the future of our country in D.C., I am considering Childers because I can pick up a phone and talk to him and not be ignored as I have been by Cochran. At least I will be heard. We have been sold out by our party and we have no place to go....yet. At least Childers hasn't slandered Sarah Palin publicly. The Republicans are not going to take the Senate as by the way it looks it is nothing but a wet dream. McDaniel represented someone that would fight against the status quo. Both Cochran and Childers are beholding to the Democrats for their positions; at least we know that Childers is standing where he has always been. If Cochran is replaced then we never had a choice in the matter in the first place.

A write-in candidacy would be meaningless. Even if he received enough votes to win, the election laws in MS allow write-ins only if one of the previous nominees died or withdrew.

So you're saying there's a chance....

Let's make sure that Boss Hogg, Thad Cochran and the rest of the elitist east ends of westbound horses really are "effed" as you put it. Destroy Cochran in November. Ditto McConnell and each and every GOP-E scumbag available for destruction. Target particularly those who are openly backed by the US Chamber of Crony Commerce that called NY's utterly leftist Congressman Hanna a "champion of free enterprise."

Cochran is obviously senile, a servant of just about every evil known to American life, a marionette manipulated by Haley Barbour, and one who strangely said DURING the primary campaign that when he was young, he did "unspeakable things" to animals on the farm. THIS is what the GOP-E wants to cram down our throats this (or any) year???

Travis Childers is the other Democrat candidate and, apparently, not a Demonrat. Childers is said to be pro-life, pro-gun and anti-Obozocare, each of which positions likely beats the hell out of the spendaholic Cochran. Is it true that Cochran is living with a woman staffer who gets $100,000+ per year on his office payroll since stashing his wife in a nursing home? Was McDaniel too much of a gentleman to point out the obvious?

A vote for Childers is likely a good idea unless a credible third party candidate runs. The GOP-E should agree. After all, the GOP-E in Mississippi wants Jacksonville Demonrats and labor activists deciding on Senate nominees. Cochran's scalp can yet be lifted permanently and hung from our lodge poles.

If my judgment has been affected by my anger, it was that way at Little Big Horn as well. I checked with my non-angry self and learned that my non-angry decision is identical. Cochran's scalp must report to lodge pole detached from Cochran.
