Both have a large Dem population, so the liberal GOP should feel right at home in either.

I am so pissed at GOPe right now.
But Cleveland is a good choice. We need Ohio, and this could help.

I will never understand why the GOP spends money in blue states, bluest cities. How does that make sense? Cleveland is not even really going to be safe. Don’t know about Dallas, never been there.

I imagine the final decision will be left up to the DemocRATS and their pals in the state controlled “media”.

The Tea Party should skip the Republican left’s festivities, and throw a conservative party.

Mark and Dave, you going to rent your houses out?

Cleveland's a GREAT CHOICE !! So much has been done to make the city convention friendly. It has hotels, more cultural, athletic, family things than just about anywhere else. It's not ridiculous hot like Dallas is in the summer, and the lake is right there. The dem mayor and the 'pub governor have a good working relationship. Cleveland is getting rave reviews for its handling of conventions. Forget notions....that downtown will be 100% safe for the convention.
Besides which, think about what could happen with the nomination process. It could get really heated with us sane people demanding Ted Cruz (a Texan) as nominee. Having it in TX could get weird.

But Cleveland is a good choice. We need Ohio, and this could help. 2012 - Tampa, Florida GOP lost the state.
2008 - St. Paul, Minnesota GOP lost the state.
2004 - New York, New York GOP lost the state.
2000 - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania GOP lost the state.
1996 - San Diego, California GOP lost the state.
I'd say the odds of a Cleveland convention making a difference are pretty poor. On the other hand, given past history, maybe it should be in Cleveland. If it's in Dallas we may lose Texas.

...you going to rent your houses out? Not anytime soon, we just finished cleaning the "entire house", basement to attic, and in-between!

I thought the GOP ‘84 convention was in Dallas?
To: All
A genuine question here...
Does it matter electorally where we hold the RNC?
I’m not sure I’ve evern heard of a state (or region) that was influenced to vote for a certain candidate just because the RNC (or DNC) was held there.
Ohio is a battleground state for 2016 - but in the great scheme of things, will it really matter where we hold the RNC?
I’m thinking not.
Opinions or comments - anyone?
To: MplsSteve
My only comment is that I’ve been wondering the same thing. Does it really matter? Great question.

Columbus, Cinci...not Cleveland. Cleveland will be a fiasco!
Cleveland with its unions etc. will be a nightmare! You want riots, they do this here...you will get your riots. Republicans and conservatives was more than hated in Cleveland.
How can I say this? I live in Greater Cleveland.
