Lois Lerner, the controversial director of the tax-exempt organizations division at the Internal Revenue Service, has a long sordid history of targeting conservatives.
Under the direction of Lois Lerner, the Federal Election Commission sued the Christian Coalition in the 1990s. She harassed the Christian Coalition for three election cycles. Eventually, she lost her case. At one point Lerner even asked a targeted conservative if Pat Robertson prayed over him. (Sound familiar?)

This pattern of intimidation reaching back over decades is very important. Forcing someone out of politics thru the misuse of the power of the office is not only illegal but also shows the arrogance and willingness of entrenched bureaucrats to destroy anyone who might fight back. Faceless bureaucrats using absolute power to destroy their ideological enemies shows they have for decades had no fear of the law being turned on them.
I can tell you these exact same tactics were used on businesses and the people that ran them as a matter of course for decades. I know, and they were not limited to the IRS. Unless you were on the receiving end of this you can not know the effect it had and continues to have on people and families. This is the first time I have seen someone use the power of Congress to uncover what I have long viewed as the most evil part of government.
I applaud Issa’s efforts, it takes a lot of spine to take on the people who really run D.C.. You see, they can go after his family and friends also, they have the power and till now no fear of any pay back. I wish Issa all the luck in the world and may God have his back.

What exactly are you confused about? Do you understand that he is putting the heat on Lerner in a effort to push her to seek immunity? He has said that if she will proffer - reveal what she knows - then she can receive immunity.
I also. The cabal of naysayers on this board leads me to think we are being overrun with trolls and plants. Here's my boilerplate.
How about this? How about we stop the “nothing’s gonna happen” meme that dominates this board? I am sure it makes some feel smart and smug. But, that steady stream of demoralizing comments, thread after thread, day after day, is actually aiding and abetting. Someone correct me and defend the strategy of constantly declaring defeat in the midst of the battle.
I was lurker here in the Clinton days and there have always been wolves in sheep’s clothing here, it is not new only the numbers seem to have grown larger.
I agree with you on all counts. If Issa digs deeper he will find that what Lerner has done is common thru out the Fed’s enforcement branches. It will be a great service to shine a little sunlight on these cockroaches and watch them run for cover. And damned entertaining too.

There is nothing *I* am confused about, but I am not the one who controls the outcome of this thing.
It is fine that Issa is offering immunity, but as one who, while not a lawyer, has been involved intimately with several lawsuits including some big ones....
Issa SHOULD have moved to seize those drives from day 1. He starts out, he asks a bunch of questions, appears to find a few things out, then acts in response to what he has learned, or suspects. Then he finds out some more things, and again moves in response to what he learns. Then he does it again. And again.
This is not characteristic of a well-planned and carefully orchestrated “campaign”. It is more like a scientific inquiry, where you find out something, you go here, you find out something else, you go there. And all you’re interested in, on some indeterminate timeframe, is finding out objective truth. This is not like that, there are attention-span issues, there is the proven ability of this admin to stonewall forever. This is not cutting to the bone. It is herky-jerky. It is hit-and-miss. Yes, it is possible that he will end up in some place that “prevails”. But as more and more time is taken up and more and more efforts come to naught, even if there is some effort that DOES lead to something, the likelihood that the whole thing dissipates grows larger.
I for one have little doubt that if Lerner is offered immunity and it really, really appears like she will spill the beans, she will be killed. She will have a mysterious heart attack or car accident. There, I said it.
And by the way....she knows it, too.
And do you really think that should that occur, the meme will be that that the evil Republicans harassed her to death?

NEWSFLASH! There are a hell of a lot more of us folks who have been on the receiving end of this BS than there are of them. Some of us remember who they are. We have not forgotten nor forgiven.

Issa has filed 4 criminal charges on Lerner. The DOJ has not acted. Time to start impeachment on Holder.

Lerner is not the only who filled this particular can of beans and there are many more who can kick this can over. If Lerner suddenly kicks the bucket aside from justice being served, that would also quite possibly force the others to run straight to Issa.
Issa is allowing them to do what stupid criminals do and that is paint themselves into a corner. No one who pays attention believes a word these thugs are saying, and the more evidence they destroy the farther up the ladder this goes. We only had Lerner and one hard drive, now, if I am counting correctly, we have 5 more names and hard drives.
Could be there is method to Issa’s madness.
