We'll admit it: We're suckers for ways to reimagine the political boundaries of the United States.
Below, we have a four-decade-old attempt from California State University geography professor C. Etzel Pearcy.

I gladly live in Mackinac!
Some of the state names are pretty good but I don’t want to redraw the states.
C. Etzel Pearcy is apparently a moron. Why would you put Dearborn on the wrong side of the state and mak4e the whole rest of the lower peninsula Mackinack?
A lot of those state names like Cochise would be way way too politically unnerving for the likes of the east coast ans west coast touchy feely crowd.
Wouldn’t it make more sense to exclude the entirety of the Michigan territory from the one labeled “Dearborn” and give the entirety of the UP to “Superior”?
What happened to the other (57-38=)19 states of Obama’s Transformed Amerikan SSR??
I’d settle for just letting the North East and Left Coast do their own thing, while we go about rebuilding the nation. Peaceful Secession.
Sorry to say it, this post is a waste of time.
That is true
Dumb place to put Shawnee. It should be where Erie is.
And the current Shawnee should be Cherokee or Nations.
They did something like this to the old Ottoman Empire.
How’d that work out?
I never noticed it before but Florida sure snagged a huge chunk of Alabama’s coastline.
Alaska made into *two* states? - it’s barely got enough people for one!
No state should have more than 5% of the Electoral votes.
I want to redraw state lines. There would be North California, Upstate New York, Eastern Oregon, Eastern Washington State and Southern Virginia. These would be included in the United States. The rest of their state would be included within the Bolshevik States of America. Included in the BSA would be all of New England, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maryland (except perhaps a sliver in the west)
Don’t pay attention to legitimate “Separatist” movements originating from the citizens within existing States, but lend credence to some academic’s idea to make Gov’t “fairer”
(Although I have to say, he did get ‘Mohawk’ just about right ;)
I agree.
I live in Susquehanna which houses the famous Susquehanna Hat Co. from the Abbott & Costello routine. Actually I live in N.J. which is also laughable.
