Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel earlier this month insisted that his brand of gun control should spread nationwide, but this past weekends Windy City body count with six dead and more than 20 wounded, according to this mornings Chicago Sun Times does not instill public faith in his strategy.
Earlier this month when Mark Glaze stepped down as executive director of Michael Bloombergs Everytown for Gun Safety, he told the Wall Street Journal, when a mass shooting happens
nothing that we have to offer would have stopped that mass shooting (in Santa Barbara).
Late last month, Washington CeaseFire President Ralph Fascitelli also admitted, I dont know of anything
that could have been done to prevent this tragedy in Santa Barbara.
In his CNN interview, Emanuel asked the public to join me in making sure we have a foundation, which is a national background check, a limit on one gun a month and straw purchases. There already is a national background check under the 1993 Brady Handgun Law. Californias one-gun-a-month restriction did not prevent Santa Barbara, and neither did that states so-called universal background check law, which is what gun prohibitionists are currently proposing for Washington State, and now are suggesting in Nevada.
It [Rahm Emanuel's gun control laws] will not stop the blood flow in Chicago or anywhere else, but such efforts are designed to create the impression something is being done while doing it to the wrong people.

When will the people of Chicago realize Rahm & the city government cannot protect them from illegally armed thugs? I would not live there or even want to go there.

Much of the South and West sides of Chicago are absolute disaster zones and more dangerous than a lot of third world countries. No amount of gun control will fix it. Only a military occupation would. The North side of Chicago is fairly safe however.

Gun ‘control’ has nothing to do with saving lives, and everything to do with removing resistance to tyranny.

The one thing chit-cago needs is more guncontrol. It’s like Dodge city now and I’m pretty certain that enacting more laws there should solve the problem. Or NOT!. Didiots.

When will Rahm and Bloomberg be made to understand that mayor of Chicago or New York is NOT a national office? It's bad enough that they choose to infringe the rights of citizens living in their cities, they had better not try to extend their influence to the rest of the country.

Easier to take guns from them. Then Chi-Congo can boast how many guns they’ve removed from the city. Meanwhile ....

Only a military occupation would.Military occupation wouldn't solve anything. Those areas would still be full of 3rd world people. They'll kill each other just out of sight of the soldiers and none of the witnesses will say they've seen anything. Hell, some of them would kill each other right in front of the soldiers.

The North side of Chicago is fairly safe however. Since the "East side" of Chicago is very sparsely populated - being that it's under Lake Michigan - what you're saying is that two-thirds of Chicago is a disaster zone and one third is "fairly safe."

Even downtown areas like Gold Coast and Streeterville have had crime issues. North side of Chicago city proper, nope.. same nonsense going on in Roger's Park neighborhood, and assaults going on in the cool trendy college areas like Lincoln Park, etc. Otherwise one is left with all the hodge podge neighborhoods of cosmo libby elites, dandys, queers, trannys, illegals and all manner of deviants with some normality thrown in. Problem is everyone is on top of each other and it's a big mess. Sure there are sanctuaries with little cute neighborhoods but that's in transition..and still the scum is close by. People want to talk about the freaks in San Francisco? Not that I've seen, much more alternative in Chicago and it's much bigger. Much of the urban belly of the beast neighborhoods are out of Stephen King horror novels, dirty with rats, not to mention the illicit driving. There aren't enough police when the wilding rat packs converge either. The whole place needs a flush.

Indeed. There are some fabulous places in the city. But truth be told you can eat just as well without ever setting foot in Cook county. That wasn’t true 15 or even 10 years got. But it is today. Although Bavettes in River North is worth the trip. So is Longman and Eagle on the north side.
