Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) on Sunday said he blames the current crisis in Iraq on those who backed the 2003 U.S. invasion, not President Obama.
Paul was asked on NBCs Meet the Press whether former Vice President Dick Cheney is a credible critic after he blasted Obama for his strategy for Iraq in an op-ed last week.
I think the same questions could be asked of the same people who supported the Iraq war, Paul said. Whats going on now..I dont blame President Obama. I blame the Iraq war and I blame the people who supported the Iraq war for emboldening Iran.
The Bush administration didnt understand and foresee that a civil war would break out, Paul said.

I didn’t know that; granting you point, they should be easy to pound into the sand then, because they didn’t show much then. I do remember the Anbar awakening, though, so I doubt you’re right.
Yep....
You’re full of shit.
I’ve always thought he and his father were kind of flakey. I agree that we shouldn’t have went into Iraq in the first place, but Obama is the one who let the situation degrade into chaos. He intentionally scuttled Iraq.
And if the Feds had replaced Saddam with a pro-US, Muzzie tyrant who would have been just as brutal this wouldn’t be happening.
You’re full of shit.
Buh Bye Rand, you barmy goofball.
This nut did not fall far from the tree.
Not to mention Eqypt had been stable for thirty years as well.
What an asshole.
Actually, the bad news is that I'm right.
If foreign affairs was a competitive sport, then George W. Bush would have won a gold medal.
In the Special Olympics.
Iraq was pumping almost 3 million barrels of oil a day recently. At $100 dollars per barrel. The Chinese were getting the oil not America. They never paid one cent for American families who lost a son or husband. They didn’t repay the US Treasury for their liberation.
We were never paid back in any fashion. I hope they all go to hell. As far as I can see this is another Vietnam, only difference is our soldiers didn’t come back to people spitting on them and that is the only good that came out of this war. I love our soldiers, but our leaders should have got something for a trillion dollars spent. We should have taken the oil. Now Isis has the money, and we have a bigger deficit
If that’s the best retort you have, I’ll thank you for conceding the argument because no regime in the Middle East matched Saddam’s record.
Not true at all. Ask the Assyrian Christians, just for one segment. Look up the al-Anfal campaign. Submitting to dhimittude does not equal being tolerated.
‘Liberating and bringing democracy’ to muzzie sandrat nations has proven to be a pipe dream. The very nature and practice of islam is antithesis to it. Heck we can hardly maintain our ‘democracy/republic’ which is corrupted now by our own big government and power hungry vain leaders—we have peeed on the graves of the founders and can no longer claim the moral high ground and favor of the Almighty.
The bad news is that you don’t know what you’re talking about.
Then there’s the nature of Ba’athism itself, which is a merging of Arab nationalism with Islamic socialismhence pan-Arab Islamic Nazism.
Liberals like posting that picture.
Going to justify Ba’athism for us, which is a form of Nazism? How about Saddam’s paying off “Palestinian” terrorists?
Does anyone even know who the "insurgents" are over there anymore?
Well, let’s give it another 3-5 years in Iraq, and then we’ll come back to compare notes, OK?
