Iran's top leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Sunday he is against US intervention in neighboring Iraq, where Islamic extremists and Sunni militants opposed to Tehran have seized a number of towns and cities, the official IRNA news agency reported.
"We strongly oppose the intervention of the U.S. and others in the domestic affairs of Iraq," Khamenei was quoted as saying, in his first reaction to the crisis.
"The main dispute in Iraq is between those who want Iraq to join the U.S. camp and those who seek an independent Iraq," said Khamenei, who has the final say over government policies. "The U.S. aims to bring its own blind followers to power since the U.S. is not happy about the current government in Iraq."

You'd think Iran would be happy there is a Shiite govt. which is the same as their own and it would not have been possible had it not been for the US to capture Sadaam Hussein. You'd think Iran would have been thanking us.
Well, of course not. That’s Iranian territory already, dontcha know?
These Mullahs aren’t even worth the dirt underneath the shoes of Darius and Cyrus.
Iran does not want an independent Iraq. Watch Mookie. He went to ayatollah school in Iran, right?
Vallerie Jarrett has spoken.
The Iranians have danced on Obama’s head like a tortilla. They orchestrated our pull out.
There is no way they will allow us back into Iraq, and in fact the best way to keep us out of there would be for them to bomb our embassy or take a handful of marine or army hostages...
Our people are in harms way, worse than when Carter was in office. We are sitting ducks over there.
They just want to protect (control) the flow of oil out of that region. If we had a “leader”, they could be eating their oil.
Of course he does. Iran and US are enemies.
do you want us to go back into Iraq?
when Saddam ruled Iraq, Iraq was Iran’s No. 1 enemy.
But George Bush fixed that.
4500 Americans died - and we borrowed a trillion dollars from China to pay for the war - to put Iran-loving “Mookie” in charge of Iraq.
Just curious: Do you think the current president’s precipitous withdrawal might have been a contributing factor?
No. ONce we left it’s over. But unfortunately all those countries are at risk. If Jordan is attacked are we going to send troops...?
It’s a mess. Obama has us in a corner... and the dumb SOB will probably send troops.
Hell no... we shouldn’t go back there.
Is Israel? If ISIS gets into Jordan, Israel's a close target. Then there's the Kurd-Turkey situation. So far, Turkey is okay with Kurds providing a buffer state. But what if the fighting spills over into Turkey? Turkey's in NATO.....entangling alliances and all that.
You’re right. These are the most dangerous times... thanks to weak kneed phonies like Hillary Clinton and Obama and Kerry....
We haven’t seen anything yet...and guess what.. our grandkids are going to have to fight these bastards..eventually...
I don't think we have that much time. This looks like a "now or never" push against the west
