Michelle Obama Tells the Congress ‘It’s Unacceptable’ To End My School Lunch Program
IJ Review ^ | 6-20-14 | Kevin Boyd

House Republicans are trying to end Michelle Obama’s school lunch initative and the First Lady’s not happy about it.

She used a White House event on Tuesday to rally opposition to a bill passed by a House subcommittee that would allow districts to suspend the program.

From Fox News:

Seeing her nutritional standards under threat, the first lady hosted a discussion with school leaders on Tuesday afternoon at the White House where she ripped efforts to roll back those guidelines.

“This is unacceptable,” Obama said.

The first lady said families realize the country is facing a “health crisis,” and the “last thing we can afford to do right now is play politics with kids’ health.”

School districts are claiming that the lunch guidelines are overly restrictive and kids are throwing away the required fruits and vegetables. Some children have complained they were still hungry due to limited portion sizes as a part of the initative (the USDA eventually scrapped the strict portion limits).

It is not “unacceptable” to believe that local school districts, who deal with students and parents on a daily basis, would have a better idea of how to feed their students than Washington bureaucrats and bored un-elected activists who dare to tell the people’s elected representatives how to do their jobs.

You said it, and I understand the ‘recess’ has been removed in some schools? It’s ludicrous. I was a tomboy and climbed trees, and I fell out. I have the scars to prove it.

I was rural so I rode the school bus in most grades. We have to change how schools operate because we are losing another generation to being ‘couch potatoes’....not to mention their brain cells are dying and what’s left is being turned left by brain dead liberal teachers.

Plus they drug all the kids they can’t control. I am pretty sure if I were in school today they would drug me. Back then the teachers would just take us outside and we’d run like crazy until we got rid of some of that energy!

Has this idiot not heard of Sea Food Allergies? Kids are refusing to eat the crap they are now being served, and it has spilled over into our hospitals, who had bad food to begin with just as school lunches have always been bad.

That hasn’t changed since my HS days. Before that we ate at our desk from a sack, bought a half pint of milk for 5 cents. We had 1 exception, a girl allergic to milk, she was allowed to bring apple juice instead.

Tip of the day: don’t listen to nutrition advice given by fat people.

The exact picture of an optimal human diet isn’t yet entirely clear, but one thing is abundantly clear: the USDA recommendation (MyPlateOfMetabolicSyndrome, formerly called the Pyramid Scheme) is a disaster for everyone.

It advocates what amounts to 60% of calories from carbs, and most of that from grains (which means the multiple-threat all-purpose human toxin sold to you as “wheat”).

“The first lady said families realize the country is facing a “health crisis,””

That is correct, actually. The incidence of non-infectious chronic diseases is rising faster than the GNP. We cannot afford a healthcare system for it (whether that system actually works or not).

Poster child for the problem is the Type 2 (not 1) Diabetes trend. Not just high. Not just rising. Accelerating. T2D is arguably a “non disease” that is merely a largely predictable metabolic response to a full time moderate to high glycemic diet (such as the USDA MyPlate). T2D is easily reversed at the syndrome and pre-diabetes stages with diet. It is usually reversible after that, depending on the severity of irreversible side effects.

Shifting to any of several low-carb high-fat diets (LCHF, paleo, primal, Wheat Belly, etc.) would be a vast and prompt improvement for most people, for a wide variety of ailments (and weight). The recent cover of Time “Eat Butter” signals that what the low carb community has known for years is now starting to show up in pop culture.

Phasing out government schools would also make the instant problem (school lunches) a non-issue.

She just admitted she’s too stupid to know what to feed her own kids. But OUR kids, that’s another story.

...to make up for the lousy one-star nutritional breakfast or dinner they get at home.

That used to be the idea. Now, virtually every little parasite gets "free breakfast". And the little parasites are encouraged to sign up for "free summer meals" to get breakfast, lunch AND dinner during the summer, for themselves AND a parent or sibling.

So even if the "parents" are worthless, lazy welfare scum, their little bastards won't go hungry. And this largesse is at OUR expense, and doesn't hurt their food stamp allotment so they can continue to blackmarket those.

I'm sorry, if you can't feed the children you've birthed, you don't deserve to have them.

If it is "her" school lunch program then she ought to be the one paying for it and not the suffering taxpayers of America.

Since when does she get the "right" to insist where our tax dollars are spent?

I hope so. They all need to shut up and sit down. They weren’t elected to anything.

Schools in my area are offering 2 meals through out the summer. I don’t think you have to be in summer school, just be a student of the school.

I so agree that most children can burn up that over active body energy with some running and playing.

I think children are misdiagnosed with ADHD and all the other nonsense, that’s not to say it doesn’t exist. Many times allergies can be attributed to their behavior and it takes the process of elimination to find what the issue is, whether it’s a food coloring, or an actual food.

Yes or the teacher could just suck! Ever have any of those teachers that were just so bad you couldn’t pay attention to them? I did.

You know, this is old news to farmers. Here is a link to the Farmer's Cyclopedia of Live Stock, originally published in 1908. Below is a snippet from page 535 describing why corn and skim milk are ideal for fattening hogs.

Corn - This is the chief grain fed to hogs in the United States. It is usually the cheapest grain and when fed with skim milk, pasture or some nitrogenous food it is the most effective of all grains in producing rapid and cheap gains.

The US policy of cheap food serves to keep the masses from becoming disagreeable as government asserts ever more control over daily lives of the average American.

While Public School Kids Eat ‘Healthy Lunches,’ Washington Elites Served Meatball Subs, Ice Cream…

They should bring some of Moochie’s food to that elite school that her daughters attend and serve it to them for a month. It could be a civics lesson in how the rest of the world is supposed to live.

No bag lunches packed by the child’s chef at home will be allowed. All must feed at the common trough.
