The United States military should launch ´targeted´ strikes against the ´terrorist army´ of ISIS in Iraq--if the situation deteriorates so that it threatens the security of the West said David Petraeus. The retired general--who led commanded the surge eight years ago that rid the war-torn nation of al-Qaeda--said that he does support limited military action to stem the flood of ISIS troops. Former CIA chief Petraeus made these remarks on Thursday,

The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
Is here worried about a mistress in Iraq?
Should launch is what the article says
Rinse. Lather. Repeat.
Petraeus is right.
Sooner the better.
Last week would have been best
Evidently not, unless you believe that every last ISIS member is Syrian. The surge hurt al-Qaeda, but it did not destroy them. Sort of like cutting off the top of a weed, but leaving the seed in the ground to sprout again.
Sometimes I think Obama’s only goal is to reduce the world population of CO2 exhaling animals (mostly human) by any means necessary.
Come on, Obama’s going to dick around until it’s too late. He’s got a directive to establish the Caliphate. In a sane world there be a huge investigation of the 2008 & 2012 elections which would involve a FBI Investigation of the Media.
We do not live in a sane world
The Genrerals credibility was spent on the chest of a woman and in hearings where he lied to the people.
No more risking US military lives. If the terrorists have OUR Stingers, they could shoot down US aircraft which would required US ground troops to attempt pilot rescue.....if not ordered to “stand down”.......aka Benghazi. I don’t trust the SOBs in charge today, including the highest echelons of the military. No need to double down on stupidity.
We’ve chosen not to fight Muslim terrorists in their backyards.... by electing Obama twice....so let’s prepare to fight them here, in our backyards, starting with major cities who are all Obama supporters.
I suppose that it is reasonable to say that we MUST kill these bastards, any chance we get. It’s as good a time as any, better than most. Open season is the best policy, and don’t hold the heavy artillery in reserve.
What’s the spirit of the bayonet?
I guess he waited for Obama to speak first.
don’t worry, Obama will do whatever he deems to be politically necessary.
A point was made that now ISIS holds at least 15 cities, and we should be drone bombing them as they travel across open desert. Or would they have innocent civilians and refugees with them as shields?
On the other hand if he takes action without consulting first he will also catch heck. Whatever he does will not be appreciated by many vociferous folk.
Not really listening to you, Dave. Had you given a damn, you would have performed a citizen’s arrest on the president before he destroyed the country. Too bad. You got burned when they dug up your secrets. Now you just have to deal with getting yelled at by their kids at college.
Can be certain isis is using all means possible including human shields to advance. They know our weaknesses when it comes to our taking action (imho). Our ‘civilized’ culture and all other ‘civilized’ cultures have been studied by their generals and the word is out there to blend with the innocents as this last push is being made. (imho) obama and his crowd blew our chances about three to five weeks ago to do air strikes ... currently the lay of the field says the only way is boots on the ground, regrettably. Many innocents are going to perish no matter the course taken, Gleeaikin. Not a situation for any sane person. Sanity was possible about three to five weeks ago but that time has gone and insanity will probably win this day in Iraq (imho). obama waited too long and he probably waited too long on purpose.
