The five black men who were wrongfully convicted in the 1989 beating and rape of a Central Park jogger have agreed to a $40 million settlement with the city, a source familiar with the terms said Thursday. The five young men whose arrests and trials made national headlines and stirred the citys simmering racial tensions had been locked in a bitter civil rights lawsuit with the city for years after their convictions were vacated. When now Mayor de Blasio ran for election last year, he promised to reach a deal.
