Two and a half years ago, the U.S. pulled every soldier out of a mostly quiet Iraq. In the void, formerly al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorists calling themselves "The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" are now tearing apart the country, leaving medieval savagery in their wake.
Obama partisans are blaming the Bush administration for going into Iraq in the first place. But critics counter that Obama wanted out of Iraq before the 2012 election at all costs. The result of that reckless skedaddle is that we have thrown away the hard work of the 2007-2008 surge that finally broke the back of both al-Qaeda and Iranian-backed Shiite terrorists.
Almost everyone faults Nouri al-Maliki, the ingrate Shiite prime minister of Iraq, who has serially trashed the American benefactors who liberated his country from Saddam Hussein's genocidal regime. Maliki has sabotaged every effort to bring Shiites and Sunnis tougher. Now he is desperate for American help to save his scalp. Iran may end up intervening, as Iraq is splitting into Kurdish, Shiite and Sunni warring states.

“few attractive options for Obama”...
yeah, they don’t like homos much in the ME.
Obama LOVES this Iraq Bull , it DISTRACTS from all scandals and hides the BOOT on the neck of the US
What??? obama’s army is being defeated? If not ... everything is on schedule for obama to kill Americans. obama maybe is drugged but he is happy for the chance to kill anyone in Western Civilization. Don’t doubt me!
There seldom are attractive options when you have totally screwed up a situation.
At that point , the options are usually bad or worse.
This disaster is of Obama’s own making and he really has not left himself much in the way of good options.
Correction there, he really has not left America much in the way of good options.
You can quite sure Obama is very satisfied with the way things are heading in the Middle East since he is the one driving the bus over there .
OUR chance to win was gone by the time we invaded "Iraq" at the end of March, 2003.
Wrong enemy, wrong discernment, wrong strategy, wrong tactics. A more massive display of incompetence at the high command level would be hard to even imagine.
Our enemies still sleep safe in their beds in Riyadh and Islamabad.
And now, they sleep in Washington, D.C., as well.
This is what defeat is like. However hard you thought victory would have been (and there are a million excuses for why we chose a Vietnam War do-over, this is worse.
baraq pulled out of Iraq way too early, leaving a power vacuum. The radical muslims have moved in. He has also released 5 of their top leaders back into the middle east.
Yes in a traditional sense, baraq has few options, but we do not have a traditional president.
This appears to all part of a larger plan to invite another terrorist attack on us while baraq and Valerie are in charge. That is the most important part of this action, them being in power. Never let a crisis go to waste.
I’ll say.
Must be a reason why they hide their women in walking cadaver bags.
And if there are no good crises, then manufacture one.
If everything comes together as planned, they will use the subsequent "crisis and calamity" as a pretext for deferring or cancelling the 2016 presidential election. Perhaps permanently.
No one believed me in 2008 when I predicted this. I sincerely hope and pray that I am wrong, but I don't think I am.
Not really. It would be more truthful to say that it is Bush's army that is being defeated After all, Obama is the one who created and funded the ISIS fighters, from Libya to Syria to Iraq. It is Obama who was willing to provide the an air force to the rebels in Libya, and almost in Syria before Russia stepped up, and now is unwilling to support Iraq.
After all, we can't get involved in petty Shia-Sunni fights. There is no responsibility-to-protect when the radical Sunnis are winning.
Western Civ is the long term target, right now Ob*stard is working on recreating the Sunni Caliphate.
and Western Civilization is the short term target also. Look south ....
