In what some see as the first step to forcing the Washington Redskins football team to change their name, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on Wednesday cancelled six federal trademarks of the team name because it's disparaging to Native Americans.
Petitioners have shown by a preponderance of the evidence that a substantial composite of Native Americans found the term REDSKINS to be disparaging, said the decision.
Fans, however, wont see any immediate change even if Daniel Snyders team eventually loses in court. Thats because all the order will do is eliminate the trademark the team has on merchandise.
The Redskins are expected to appeal.

There has to be a city that is dying to get a professional football team.
It is time the ‘Skins (Can they use that? Would all of with skin be offended?) leave D.C. to somewhere nice that actually wants them there - maybe somewhere in Texas (like everyone else from the northeast and California!)
The world is catching fire all around us and this boob has time to worry about a pro sports team’s name? That is what is wrong with this country, the idiots are in charge and have their priorities messed up.
I just did a USGov Copyright search. 126 hits on Nigg3r.
Over 600 on Nigg@.
Ok. Make it the San Antonio Banditos.
I love it!

hahah, perfect!
Here is a really interesting tid bit.....
I recently visited Neah Bay Washington on the Makah Indian reservation. The reservation high school has a mascot. The Red Devil. The teams are known as Red Devils.
How can this double slur be allowed?
It is both ethnic and religious
Illegal action by a fascist regime. Such dictatorships always seize private citizens’ property. The military power of the state apparatus turned against its citizens to control, enslave, and exploit them. Transformation of Amerika is well along and increasing One thing though, if the name isn’t trademarked then we can all use it everywhere in USA.
Pull the team out of WHERE? This decision has nothing to do with the Redskin’s home city of Washington.
A trademark is national and often international. A huge % of the $ teams make comes from their trademarked merchandise. Trademarks are an enormously valuable asset to the owner.
The unprecedented action of the treacherous tyrant Barack Obama will not stand.
Move them to Idaho and change the logo to a potato. Problem solved. Washington DC is a cess pool.
Except that these people are not "liberals." While I am a Conservative in the classic sense, I respect classic "liberals," as having intellectual integrity. The National Socialists in Washington have no intellectual integrity. Their "liberalism," is cut from the same philosophic cloth as was Hitler & Roehms, when in 1933, without outright seizure of property, as their Bolshevik cousins had, they appropriated the attributes of private property.

Harry Reid offends me—
According to Harry...
I find the name Washington Redskins quite offensive myself. Who’d want a pathetic place and bunch of scoundrels like that as a namesake.
I like Richmond Redskins or Virginia Redskins.
” - HOW IS THAT EVEN LEGAL?”
“Legal” is far behind, in the rear-view mirror. No longer even a concept in this Current Regime.
Comes down to “What can we steal today?” Nobody will even call them out on their rampage, that would be “racist”.
Time to stop being politically correct, and call a spade a spade. (NO apology for that.)
Redskin describes a kind of peanut. It that now outlawed? How about potatoes with red skins, if that now an obscene term?
And by what legal arrangement can a trademark be simply stripped from the holder of the copyright? Has the world of law and commerce been somehow inverted? This is entirely arbitrary and without any known legal precedent, and in fact, has not even had a hearing in any court of law.
Rename them the Washington Pajama Boys
Not laughing. This is such a brazen, arrogant abuse of federal government power, it cannot stand. Between this USPTO decision, and AMA deciding that gender is imaginary, it’s a sad, sad day, indeed.
