Christ is the central stock; the churches (or collectively, segments of the church) are the branches.

No matter HOW big and famous the institution, the servants can’t exceed their master. The valid church can never eclipse Christ.

As I pointed out, that’s why big Protestant mainlines have fallen down. The trust has slowly gotten moved from Christ to the institution. I just hope that ALL Christendom will learn the lesson of misplaced faith, and put their hopes back directly in the Savior without feeling they must have an intermediary. That has glorified man against God and it just plain doesn’t WORK.

And part of that infallible doctrine is the instructions given by Paul the Apostle for how leaders within every church were to behave:

Here is a trustworthy saying: Whoever aspires to be an overseer desires a noble task. Now the overseer is to be above reproach, faithful to his wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him, and he must do so in a manner worthy of full respect. (If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God’s church?) He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall under the same judgment as the devil. He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil’s trap.

In the same way, deacons are to be worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain. They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience. They must first be tested; and then if there is nothing against them, let them serve as deacons.

In the same way, the women are to be worthy of respect, not malicious talkers but temperate and trustworthy in everything. A deacon must be faithful to his wife and must manage his children and his household well. Those who have served well gain an excellent standing and great assurance in their faith in Christ Jesus.

Although I hope to come to you soon, I am writing you these instructions so that, if I am delayed, you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in God’s household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth. (I Timothy 3:1-15)

But what good is it to instruct if it is without the singular and unique “authority” of Christ to teach ONE truth that he gave to his apostles.

Christ told the apostles to follow his example: “As the Father has sent me, even so I send you” (John 20:21). Just as the apostles were to carry Christ’s message to the whole world, so they were to carry his forgiveness: “Truly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven” (Matt. 18:18).

This power was understood as coming from God: “All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation” (2 Cor. 5:18). Indeed, confirms Paul, “So we are ambassadors for Christ” (2 Cor. 5:20).

Some say that any power given to the apostles died with them. Not so. Some powers must have, such as the ability to write Scripture. But the powers necessary to maintain the Church as a living, spiritual society had to be passed down from generation to generation. If they ceased, the Church would cease, except as a quaint abstraction.

Christ ordered the apostles to, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations.” It would take much time. And he promised them assistance: “Lo, I am with you always, to the close of the age” (Matt. 28:19–20).

Want to take another shot at answering it? Because the answer really is blindingly obvious and everyone can recognize evasion and deflection when they see it.

Catholic’s blind loyalty to their church is commendable to a point, but when it causes someone to defend the indefensible, it’s misplaced. It reveals that those so indoctrinated have had their ability to step back and think objectively compromised.

Admitting that the Catholic church is wrong is simply honesty. I realize that Catholicism tolerates no dissent and that if someone is forced to admit that it is wrong in one area, it leaves the door open for them to consider that the RCC could be wrong in other areas, and that just cannot be tolerated either by the church or the adherent.

That’s the problem with following an organization rather than Christ. Anything or anyone but Jesus WILL let you down at some time.
