I always wondered why blacks supported OJ so much in the first place.
The guy was the Whitest Black Man in America before the murders.
Yep - I worked at Montana and San Vicente, across the street from Mezzaluna....it was a mess.
No you didn’t. This was the start of kill whitey.
Blacks could have cared less if Orenthal was guilty or not.
The hate runs very deep. Thank your public school system.
I seedah OJ! I seedah OJ!
Freegards
It wasn’t anywhere near the start of kill whitey. OJ wasn’t even a football player yet when kill whitey started.
Actually, this was the first televised performance of kill whitey. Please tell me another event that could top “The Crime of the Century” as deemed by the press.
o it wasn’t the first time kill whitey showed up on TV. You seem to have forgotten about a little group called the Black Panthers. Not to mention the Rodney King riots. And there were a couple of dozen crimes of the 20th century, one of them in 60s was supposed to inspire black people to hurry up and get their kill on cause they weren’t killing whitey fast enough. Sorry, kill whitey pre-dates OJ by a whole quarter century.
They supported him because of their fear of what would be taken away by the white community if a wealthy , successful, publicly venerated, black man was convicted of acting like a murderous common street thug.
Nah. OJ went on for weeks on CNN. Rodney King didn’t play TB for the Bills and the Panthers were isolated to the inner city.
OJ was the black man’s plight. It didn’t matter that he was guilty. Justice was acquittal regardless of guilt.
OJ ran longer because of the trial, but it wasn’t first. OJ wasn’t the black man’s plight, OJ was revenge for Rodney, Rodney was the black man’s plight, OJ was proof they actually could win once in a while.
I recall that poor bastard being dragged out of his truck and smacked with a brick. That could be a starter.
I was in Phoenix at the time. I’ll cede this one to you.
It was a toilet, and that was the Rodney King riot. In 1981 Eddy Murphy spoofed killed whitey on SNL with the great “prose and cons” poem Kill my Landlord, in 1993 some rap group didn’t get the joke and actually made that the title of their album. And I haven’t even mentioned the Watts Riots in 1965.
Why would you mention WATTS. America didn’t care.
If I recall ADAM-12 was 1970 and all was right in the world.
Dirty Harry came down in 1972 and eradicated the evil bastards.
Charles Bronson came in and eradicated anything messing with his world.
I guess we didn’t understand.
Oh people cared. Watts was huge, it became the rally cry and inspiration for 300 more riots. It was really when kill whitey started.
Ah, my old stomping grounds. I miss Brentwood a lot.
Not me....I worked there, but lived up in Santa Clarita - the commute was a total ballbuster.
