The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) claimed Friday that it cannot produce Lois Lerners emails to and from the White House and other administration departments due to a supposed computer crash.
The IRS previously agreed to hand over all of the ex-IRS officials emails from 2009 to 2011 to the House Ways and Means Committee, chaired by Rep. Dave Camp. But the IRS claimed Friday that it has Lerners emails to and from other IRS officials but it cannot produce emails to and from the Treasury and Justice Departments, the Federal Election Commission, or Democratic offices.
The IRS computer crash may go down in history next to the eighteen and a half minute gap in the Watergate tapes, which was supposedly caused by a mistake by Richard Nixons secretary Rose Mary Woods.
The fact that I am just learning about this, over a year into the investigation, is completely unacceptable and now calls into question the credibility of the IRSs response to Congressional inquiries, Camp said in a statement. There needs to be an immediate investigation and forensic audit by Department of Justice as well as the Inspector General.
Just a short time ago, Commissioner Koskinen promised to produce all Lerner documents, Camp continued. It appears now that was an empty promise.

This is May 2014 and they are just now finding out there was a crash approx 3 years ago and no backup ???
And they will get away with it. I wish it were different, but that is reality.
Yeah...Let call in the IN ON IT corrupt justice department. That will teach em.
This is the standard republican response. Act all tuff and then call for a meaningless response. That is because the republicans are really in on it too.
That’s what a caller on Levin’s show today brought up: The servers on the receiving end of the emails didn’t all crash. (Yet, at least).
Don’t worry. Darryl Issa is on the case! He’ll be giving one of his stern looks here soon! That’ll show em.
The emails are on her HARD DRIVE, which can be read even if they are DELETED... and they will also be in GOVT SERVERS...they are not gone, they are lying big time.
Medium and large sized private businesses are required to store emails. My company has invested alot of money in this. Previously we were just storing them...but it wasnt in a manner that captured the complete ‘string’ of previous messages....so in order to comply we invested in special software. This software also stores the messages on three servers at once...in two different states.
But the irs doesnt have to do any of this?
Indict, try, convict, sentence, and hang one senior IRS official each day until the emails are found. Either way the American people win.
...and the dog ate our homewor.., the dog ate our snail mail!
Is this another 18 minutes ?IMPEACH ! NOW !
The NSA might have ‘em.
Har har

Better, they’ve been investigating this for how long now and this is just being revealed? I guess that committee isn’t in any rush. Gosh. It’s almost as if they were, well, complicit.
They probably even have barrys birth certificate.....
Oy Vey...these criminals in the IRS and WH “High crimes and misdemeanors”...’aiding and abetting the enemy’...all traitor indictment material.
What about the computers she sent them to... Did ALL of them crash too?
Give me the hard drive then. I’ll try my hardest.
Just call the NSA. They copy everything, including this post, from what I have heard. ;~))
Beginning with the individual who made that statement, all the way up and down the chain of IT IRS "experts" maintaining the system should be suspended without pay immediately, with firings to follow. All of them.
No large business or enterprise lacks redundant systems to prevent exactly what they are claiming. The biggest business of all, the Federal government, lacks those safeguards?
Fire them all and remove their pensions. This is a years long criminal enterprise, and the RICO laws should apply. As an general and just rule, criminals should NEVER profit from their crimes.
Of course you know how difficult it is to destroy a hard drive and its data.
Just think about the failure of the storage infastructure that is no doubt supposed to be reliable. Which company failed, IBM, HP?
