WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama said on Friday he will take several days to review options for how the United States can help Iraq deal with a militant insurgency, saying any action would need significant involvement by Iraq itself.
"The United States is not simply going involve itself in a military action in the absence of a political plan by the Iraqis that gives us some assurance that they are prepared to work together," Obama said, making it clear that he would not send U.S. troops back into combat in Iraq.
"We are not going to be able to do it for them," he added. The threat by militants from the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, or ISIL, in Iraq poses a danger to the people of Iraq and also, potentially Americans, Obama told reporters at the White House.
"This is a regional problem, and it is going to be a long-term problem. And what we're going to have to do is combine selective actions by our military to make sure that we're going after terrorists who could harm our personnel overseas or eventually hit the homeland," Obama said.

Remember how hot Obama was to bomb the cr*p out of Libya, and he did so WITHOUT even consulting Congress? As an agent of the Islamic Caliphate, Obama was eager to soften Libya for control by Sharia Islamists.. Same with Egypt, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, etc..
Several days to decide? This is big-budget governance: there should already be a binder on the shelf (amid thousands of other what-if plans & playbooks) marked “Al Qaida Moves To Seize Iraq”, open it and proceed accordingly.
Except he already is! He planned to stall while AQ moves fast to take over before opposition can start.

He is telegraphing to ISIS that they are free and clear to march onward without any resistance from the US.
Geraldo was on Fox & Friends this morning demanding that ISIS troops be hit on the road to Bagdad.
Obama won't do anything unless he hears a concerted demand from the left wing of the Democratic Party, and they are too busy saying the mess is all George W. Bush's fault to think ahead to what it will mean for ISIS to control all or most of Iraq.
Iraq may come to illustrate what Jesus spoke of in Luke 11.24-26 ("the last state of that man is worse than the first").
He’s using same old tactics, waiting until the takeover is a fait accompli before acting like he’d ever do anything about it.

look, in several days it will all be over, and Baghdad will be in Al Baghdadi’s hands. Lots of folks—including Americans, I bet, will be DEAD. Now is not the time to go fundraising—Any American who now gives a Dime to this “President” (acting President really) is a traitor and should be publically shamed. It may come to the point when American will need to beseige the White House in the Tens of Thousands to urge him to resign—or urge the Joint Chiefs of Staff to take over and re-establish Democracy. Even President Biden would be an improvement—or President Bony—until elections can be held.

When he pulled out the military probably developed contingency plans. He is just letting it drag out.
If he wants to turn Iraq over, he should say so and move to the next tee.

Hussein just let’s other people deal with it, then he comes in front of the camera (because he’s good at that part) and says whatever they have told him to say. Then he goes off and plays golf and goes to fancy fundraisers. I wonder if he and the Mooch are going to Martha’s Vineyard again?

I thought that military and vets would descend upon
DC to protest. It’s time for us patriots to fill the mall with millions of us.
Ideally our military have contingency plans and options, for virtually all possible conflicts, every single day.
So what is really being stated is it will take Obama days to get up to speed, ponder alternatives, regarding his single most vitally important duty.
Our intelligence should have, probably did predict this weeks or months ago.
Obama is traveling to North Dakota for a Sioux tribal event, and his national security adviser is not with him.
