About 200 Americans under contract with the Department of Defense at Balad Air Force Base in Iraq are trapped by the al-Qaida-inspired jihadists who have seized control of two cities and are now threatening Baghdad, according to WND sources.
The sources, private contractors who have recently returned to the U.S. from Iraq, said Friday their former colleagues effectively have been abandoned by the U.S. military and are fighting for their lives against an army of jihadists surrounding the base who belong to the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, or ISIS.
The U.S. contractors are at Balad to help the Pentagon prepare the facilities for the delivery of the F-16 aircraft the Obama administration has agreed to provide the Iraqi government.
The surrounded Americans said they currently are under ISIS fire from small arms, AK47s, and rocket propelled grenades, or RPGs.
The contractors so far have been able to hold the base, but those on the scene reported it was only a matter of time before the ISIS terrorists succeed in breaking through the perimeter.

Do we even have a thousand detainees to trade for them?

As the jihadists head south, US companies are pulling out hundreds of American contractors working at Iraq’s Balad air base about 80 kilometres from Baghdad.
Zero is running low on terrorists.
Reportedly, after springing the five for Bergdahl, Gitmo's population is down to 149. It peaked at 684 in 2003 and had declined to 240 by the time Zero took over.
Up north the Iraqi army “abandoned” US-supplied equipment.
Question for a military radio man:
1. Does that mean that ISIS has their hands on our encrypted radio equipment?
2. If true, or possible, what does that mean for any US personnel in Iraq?
“Funny how the US Media cant seem to be found anywhere in all of this, isnt it?”
Yes - a media so CONSUMED by the Vietnam War must see the similarities to what is happening.
But we all know where the media’s true patriotism lies: Party over Country.
Yep.
leave no one behind. /s
True enough. The POS POTUS got his little deserter out before the party started...
1.)Possible that they have at least that days code fill.
2.)change code fill ASAP
ISIL is using suicide bombers !
Those Contractors better take pictures of all the Black and Latino Contractors and put them out to the media, because odumbi won’t help them if they are painted as a bunch of PRIVEDGED WHITE CONTRACTORS.
and we had better stop complaining about odumbi and start putting the blame instead on the DEMOCRACTIC REGRESSIVE PARTY!
If true, or possible, what does that mean for any US personnel in Iraq?
US personnel use a different crypto key from the Iraqis. The Iraqis will likely be issued a new key for their radios which limits the amount of eavesdropping ISIS can do.
Please say “Hello” for us. Thank you.
He just might be under more pressure then you right now. Spelling is probably the last thing on his mind. They obviously are now running on generators now if surrounded.
I read a report a day or so ago that the Iranians have been inserting their special forces into the area but I am at a loss as to who they are actually helping. I can’t see Iran wanting a bunch of crazies next door to them that are out of control and which LOTS of U.S. hardware at their disposal.
Baghdad ? That is not an evacuation. ISIL has numerous suicide bombers ready to hit the city.
Could be “typing” on a mobile device that “helped” him with spelling.
She hasn’t been on since late 2011.
bttt
Also says “Several hundred American contractors are still waiting to leave.”
Excellent point.
‘Ballad’ is word in the English language. ‘Balad’ is not.
In fact, Balad has a red squiggle under it on my screen as I type this...
