Former Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele on Friday warned that the tea party caucus is not happy with the rush to coronate Rep. Kevin McCarthy as majority leader. Guys in Congress and gals rushed this thing through, Steele said on MSNBC. The base is not happy about it. They wanted to see a conservative probably someone out of the tea party caucus at least vie for the position. They clamped it down early, did not give them a chance to ramp it up, and thats going to come back to bite.

Thanks. Wish it was public, but I can understand why it isn’t.
Regrettably, there are not enough House members with spines that won’t turn to jelly.
They had a chance to deseat Boehner in January 2013 and even had to the votes to do it, but Bachmann’s and a couple of others’ spines turned to jelly.

Now is their chance again to get someone in a leadership position.
History says they won’t — another example of pulling defeat out of the jaws of victory.
Yep. The ruling class want just two classes: the elite and the surfs. We are heading back to an aristocratic feudal society.
McCarthy’s constituents need to stay home in November and cut the RINO loose. Bite the bullet now and replace him in 2016. Same with Boehner.
We are MAD as HELL!!!
And we will vote in November, next will be a march on DC!!!!
Let’s see... Majority Leader outspends opponent 50 to 1 and loses by 11%. So Leader’s friends rush to install a clone.
What could go wrong?
There is no reforming the GOP, guys. You couldn’t get a clearer message from the base: Cantor was tossed. And in respone, the GOP leadership is doubling down. You serfs WILL know your place.
You can’t save the GOP. All you can do it kill it off, and replace it with something completely different, the requires explicit fealty to conservative policies, not just lip service.
McCarthy became Majority Whip on January 3, 2011. And since January 4th of that year he's been planning and working on becoming the Majority Leader. The Tea Party caucus is just complaining because they got caught flat-footed and hadn't even begun contemplating what they would do should a leadership position come open. Let that be a lesson to them. If they some how manage to get one of their members into the Whip's spot then they had better begin working on getting him into the next office up the ladder.
Tom McClintock is from the same state and you, and the rest of the country would be glad to have him.
Secret ballot, behind closed doors.
Agree. If necessary take them out in the General.
Two chances every two years.
Tom Price is from my state. I thought he’d be mentioned....
we just need more of a conversation on this speaker/leader thing.
estab is playing this completely wrong. now we feel railroaded - again.
this won’t win for the gop-e it will only make the swing farther and with more momentum.
Just called my congressman.
Told his office conservatives celebrated cantors loss.
He best vote for a conservative leader,
Time to get a good opponent [like Brat] against mccarthy. Primary his butt in his blue of blue states. He can be taken out just like so many others have been.
make it a focus. Give the seat to the dems. Just get mccarthy gone. losing his seat is no big deal for control of the house.
It appears Steele can be taught.
When Michael Steele is making more sense than any current party leaders, you know we’re being hosed by Washington.
Maybe next time. The California primary was last week and McCarthy ran unopposed. And even if someone had run, the California primary is wacky. In it the top two vote getters wind up on the ballot, regardless of party affiliation. So you can have two Republicans running against each other, or two Democrats.
Steele is of course correct here. But he is only stating the obvious. Nobody was fooled.
This doesn’t change Steele’s track record.
Graping the obvious?
OOPS - Grasping
