Jesse Brisbin, a 30-year-old twice-convicted sex offender allegedly attempted to abduct a six-year-old girl from a Seattle park on Thursday evening, but he picked the wrong park to act on his compulsion. According to witnesses, he made it about three blocks with the girl after grabbing her by the hand and wrapping his shirt around her face before a group of about 20 neighborhood children and adults caught up with him.
According to the Seattle Police Department, the six-year-old girl broke free and Brisbin tried to run away. The men tackled Brisbin, who lives only about a half-mile from Benefit Park. The girl’s father then made the man call 911 on his own cell phone, reporting himself to police. When the cops got there, they found three men, including the girl’s father, delivering a beating to the fallen Brisbin.
As one witness reported, Brisbin assaulted one of the men who caught up to him as he tried to get away, which sparked their attack on him.
The six-year-old child was playing in the park with her siblings when Brisbin allegedly approached her and asked him to come wither her. She recognized Brisbin from the neighborhood and from a time when he had attempted to purchase a household appliance from her parents. But she refused to go with him.
“The scariest part was I didn’t want to go with the man with the red and black bag,” the girl told KIRO TV News, “and he took me all the way down the hill.”
Who knows what would have happened to the girl had the concerned neighbors failed to chase down the suspect and administer a dose of instant karma?
“When he got her he took his shirt off and tied it over her face and her ears and told her that he was going to take the poison out of her,” said the girl’s mom, Vernee Fletcher, through tears.
Fletcher got her daughter back soon after the incident, and she believes she might never have seen her child again, if not for the prompt reaction of her neighbors. “It felt like my skin melted into hers, the harder I hugged her.”
Brisbin was wearing an ankle bracelet at the time of the attempted kidnapping, stemming from a 2009 conviction for exposing himself to two children in Bellvue, Washington. He was also convicted of kidnapping, criminal sexual contact and child endangerment in New Jersey 10 years before that. In that case, he was also disciplined for attempting to cut off his required ankle bracelet.
“We’re kind of wondering how was someone like this is roaming around in our neighborhood,” said Fletcher, who also believes that the close sense of community in the Seattle neighborhood around Benefit Park is what ultimately saved her daughter from an unthinkable fate.

Good to hear - I don’t want complete vigilante justice (i.e., beating him to death) - as I think that leads towards anarchy, but I don’t mind pervs like that being taught a REAL lesson either. The 3 guys would certainly get a pass on any jury that I was on.
Hope they put this perv in general population. That’s where real justice will be administered.

This is 20 years of appeals. 24 YRS SINCE THE CRIME. TOOK ONLY THE DNA TO PROVE WHO DID IT, #1 SUSPECT. DNA & confession proved he raped, strangled to death with her OWN SHOE LACES 8 year old Ashley ‘Nicki’ Read and then threw her body in the river. Even helped hunt for what was thought to be a missing child.

"Real justice" would be a good Roman scourging followed by a salt water washdown. There is no such thing as cruel and unusual punishment for this man's deeds.
Under the circumstances, I think they could have simply gone with “he tripped and fell down” and no one would have any problem with his face looking like pulp.

The death penalty, applied immediately after conviction, is the only proper punishment for pedophilia. Too bad the people did not beat this creature to death at the park.
Even in liberal Seattle, I don’t believe that this sort of behavior is well-received.
When I was a kid, there was a guy in the neighborhood watching kids go to and from school, to put it mildly, with great interest. A few fathers, construction workers who I new had friends in “other businesses”, went over to the guy’s house and explained to him that this was not a good idea. He was never seen outdoors again.
I’d follow it with a hundred pounds of concrete chained to his neck and deposited in the deepest part of Puget Sound. Let the guy be food for the giant Pacific octupi down there.
Oddly enough, there does appear to be a cure, or at least one that works on those who want badly enough to be cured.
The conventional wisdom is that this behavior has little or nothing to do with sexuality. Since progressives define sex as Good, anything sexual that is Bad, such as child molestation or rape, must be redefined as not really being about sex at all. Which really messes with our ability to deal with them.
It is generally accepted that child molesters reoffend when released at a rate in the vicinity of 90%. Which is where the notion comes from that there is no cure.
However, several countries and I believe one or two states allow the option of chemical castration to offenders who request it. Apparently the recidivism rate for those treated in this way is somewhere around 10%, much lower than for most crimes.
We should remember that some of those with these compulsions are not necessarily and inherently evil people. We don’t get to consciously choose our compulsions, though in general we can decide consciously whether to act on them.
Those requesting this form of treatment are obviously powerfully motivated to stop the behavior, so they are not necessarily a representative group. But the results do seem to show that treatment is possible. It also demonstrates, IMO, that the sex hormones interacting with the brain make such behaviors very nearly irresistible. Remove the sex hormones, and the behavior can be, or at least very often is, successfully resisted.
How is this guy not in prison?

There is a “Treatment Center” for that type of creep not far from here. Less than 1% ever get out of there and when they do, they are in a “box”, never again to molest a child or anyone else.
