WASHINGTON (AP) President Barack Obama said Thursday that Iraq will need more help from the United States as it seeks to push back a violent Islamic insurgency that has captured two key cities and threatens to press toward Bagdad.
Obama did not specify what type of assistance the U.S. would be willing to provide but said he had not ruled out any options.
"We do have a stake in making sure that these jihadists are not getting a permanent foothold in either Iraq or Syria, for that matter," Obama said during an Oval Office meeting with Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott.
Senior administration officials said the U.S. was considering whether to conduct drone missions in Iraq but was not looking to put American forces on the ground. The officials were not authorized to discuss the matter by name and requested anonymity.

Sorry to interrupt you, Mr. Pres__ent, but Moochelle just called,, she found the carton of cigarettes you stashed in the AF1 washroom.
They fact that the Iraqi military seems to be most capable of heading away from a fight, I’m not sure anything short of a permanent occupation is going to fix it. Good luck selling that to the American people.
Obama has no CLUE WHAT TO DO ,maybe bring more Illegals across the southern border will help
Brothers ?
Glad you posted it———we all need a good laugh in these trying times.

US mulls ‘all options’ as militants move nearer Baghdad
http://news.yahoo.com/iraqs-tikrit-falls-militants-police-140252771.html
Baghdad (AFP) - Jihadists moved nearer to Baghdad Thursday after capturing a town just hours to the north, as President Barack Obama said Washington was exploring all options to save Iraq’s security forces from collapse.
With the militants closing in on the capital, forces from Iraq’s autonomous Kurdish region took control of Kirkuk, an ethnically divided northern city they have sought to rule for decades against the objections of successive governments in Baghdad.
Iraqi Foreign Minister Hosyhar Zebari acknowledged the security forces which Washington invested billions in training and equipping before withdrawing its own troops in 2011, had simply melted away.
Obama said Iraq was going to need “more help from the United States and from the international community.”

Obama warns of U.S. action as jihadists push on Baghdad
http://news.yahoo.com/iraq-kurds-seize-kirkuk-sunni-militants-surge-toward-093536348.html
BAGHDAD/ARBIL (Reuters) - President Barack Obama on Thursday threatened U.S. military strikes in Iraq against Sunni Islamist militants who have surged out of the north to menace Baghdad and want to establish their own state in Iraq and Syria.
Iraqi Kurdish forces took advantage of the chaos to take control of the oil hub of Kirkuk as the troops of the Shi’ite-led government abandoned posts, alarming Baghdad’s allies both in the West and in neighboring Shi’ite regional power Iran.
“I dont rule out anything because we do have a stake in making sure that these jihadists are not getting a permanent foothold in either Iraq or Syria,” Obama said at the White House when asked whether he was contemplating air strikes. Officials later stressed that ground troops would not be sent in.
Obama was looking at “all options” to help Iraq’s leaders, who took full control when the U.S. occupation ended in 2011. “In our consultations with the Iraqis, there will be some short-term immediate things that need to be done militarily,” he said.

If KIng Obama says “No boots”,,there will be boots on the ground,,,count on it.
Would Clown Prince nobama ever lie to us? Say it isn’t true.
Now Obie wants to intervene in Iraq?
Has he said for which side?
Exactly! I am sick of this notion that we cannot or should not have permanent military presence in key regions of the world. It took a long time for Japan to get on its feet again and become a great partner and economic force for good.
The first time any politician says “no boots” you can bet the farm they will send them.

Doesnt wait for Congress to give approval to bomb Syria. Helps ISIS in doing so. ISIS attacks and overthrows nothern Iraq yet wont answer an allies plea. Let me guess, he’s going to wait for Congress on this one?
Were these folks trained by Americans? He sure seems to favor them.
