Opinion: Bush, Cheney created the Iraq mess; why not make them try to fix it?
Los Angeles Times ^ | June 12, 2014 | by PAUL WHITEFIELD

Well, gee, $1 trillion or so just doesn’t buy what it used to. Take Iraq, for example.

Or, should I say: Take Iraq, please, someone — and fix it. Fend off the nasty Islamic fighters of ISIS and keep that miserable sinkhole for American lives and money from coming back to bite us — again.

Do you understand now, George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, John Bolton and all you neocon nutjobs, why the invasion of Iraq in 2003 wasn’t a very good idea?

President Obama sure does. Because now he’s neck deep in another crisis in this place, a country he thought he had gotten us out of, as he promised to do.

Now, I do have one somewhat off-the-wall option: Send Mr. Bush and Mr. Cheney over there and let them try to negotiate a solution. And tell them they can’t come home until they’re successful. After all, they’re the ones who created this mess in the first place.

Riyadh

You are changing the discussion. I'm fine if you go that direction, but Iraq itself was being brought under control.

My point is, so what?

"Control" of the former Ottoman provinces of Mosul, Basra, and Mesopotamia without a strategic vision to defeat our enemy was, and is, meaningless.

“That whole region is just plain effed up.”

Long past time to go Hiroshima on them all (minus Israel, of course).

Now you are totally off my original comment about Bush and Cheney having it fairly well under control when they made the handoff to Obama, who handled it incompetently, or as another has said, intentionally mishandled it.

So, if you’re saying the Ottoman Empire shouldn’t have been broken up after WWI, or broken up in the way it was, then I’m with you. But, that wouldn’t relate to my comment at all.

Oh NO they di~ennnt!!!

I thought someone would have at least tried the ole YouTube video thing again...It has worked so well in the past for the stooped people in this country...

It would fit the narrative which is there is no news other than what the propaganda machine feeds the masses like cold oatmeal...

Just my opinion...

They are doing their best to cover up for Hillary—who was Sec of State. How come SHE didn’t see this coming?

Her ‘husband’ Bill had multiple bombings during his administration, which were treated like someone putting a flaming bag of dog poop on the porch.....

IMO, IF stronger measures had been taken over the attacks Bill ignored, we never would have had the 9-11 loss of our citizens.

I agree. I was there up until the end of 2011. It was pretty quiet. Obama and Hillary blew up Iraq.

That was actually George Washington who said that, in his farewell address, but otherwise you are correct...

That was my original thought; but decided to check it with Google®.

According to the libs, Bush was the stupidest president in history, and Obongobongo is the smartest.

I realize it’s asking quite a lot, but since our current _re__ent is so capable, why not ask him to actually do his job, and deal with the problem?

Whoever wrote this is way off....this mess was a danger to all countries, and Bush and Cheney did the right thing, it was OZero who lost the ball and took our troops out of a successful change to Democracy in Iraq. Unbelievable the ignorance here, another liberal spouting off.

So was Joab in 2 Samuel chapter 19. A very stern lesson ignored by our elected leaders.

There is no need to give it to “W” or Dick Cheyney.

Give it to me.

I can fix it!
