WASHINGTON — Michelle Obama has turned her annual spring garden harvest into a plea for keeping healthier school lunch standards in place.
Students who help plant the garden regularly return for the harvest. But on Thursday a few school nutrition directors also attended.
A House bill due to be voted on soon would allow some schools to opt out of new standards that require more whole grains, fruits and vegetables in school lunches. The White House has threatened to veto the bill.

Her rigid rules make no allowance for physically active kids, or those who aren’t fed well enough for breakfast at home.
Without adequate calories kids will learn less than they otherwise would.
Stop hurting our kids, end Michelle’s dietary guidelines.

Her defiant and inflamatory rhetoric on such a mundane issue as school lunches provides interesting insights into hubby’s mindset. If she’s gonna go down swinging for carrot sticks and celery, think what O will do to avoid criminal prosecution/impeachment.
So, she has a crew of White House gardeners prepare the soil, kids do the planting, gardeners do the watering and weeding, and then has the kids come back to pick it.
What part of any of that makes it HER garden
Put her out there on a front-tine tiller and maybe she’d work off some of that more-than-ample backside she sports
They ought to send Michele to that airbase that’s being evacuated north of Baghdad. She’s always ‘fighting’ or ‘threatening to fight’. We ought to take her up on it while she’s in that mood.
I think this is an area of huge overreach for the federal government.
It’s a good goal to be in favor of healthy eating and all that. But, do we really need Michelle Obama and bureaucrats in Washington, DC, dictating the standards to schools around the country?
Why can’t local school districts decide what their food choices will be?????
Who elected Michelle Obama to a position of authority of any kind in this administration?????
