I just heard on Rush's show that there is a possibility that Obama will issue a blanket pardon of all illegal aliens in the United States. Rush said that he will use the threat of this to goad Republicans into passing an immigration reform bill. What needs to be understood about this threat is that it doesn't change much.
The constitutional power of the president to pardon people of crimes allows this pres__ent to excuse the crimes that the illegals have committed at the time of the pardon. What is the crime? Being in the country illegally. OK, so we can't put them in prison or punish them for being in the country illegally as of the date of the pardon. What happens the next day? And the next day? They are still in the country illegally. They are committing a new crime by remaining in the country after such a pardon.
In other words, Obama does not have the power to make illegals legal by using the pardon power. He can only forgive their crime of illegal entry. They don't become legal residents, or citizens, by virtue of a pardon. Congress sets out the terms by which immigrants and tourists may enter the country and stay permanently, and become voting citizens. Obama can't make them legal with his magic wand. He can refuse to enforce the law, and he has done that ostentatiously, and that lets them stay here for now. But all it takes to restore law is a new president who decides to enforce the law.
If conservatives get out front on this, and declare that any such pardon would be virtually meaningless, it can remove the threat and get the discussion back to where it should be, which is whether we are going to pass a law allowing these 20 million or more illegals to stay permanently. That is a decision for the legislature, and a fight we have to take to Boehner and the GOPe. Obama's threats should not be allowed to cow conservatives in taking on Boehner and his new buddy, McCarthy.
I hope he does try.

Obama should be removed from office by order of military Generals then...because that is treasonous.
He mentioned the example of the draft dodgers that Carter pardoned. At the time of that pardon, the crime committed was refusing to appear for the draft when they were drafted, years earlier. When they returned, that crime was pardoned, and they were not committing new crimes by not complying with a draft that no longer existed.
Rush's 99.8% rate of being right is going to take a hit on this.

He cannot pardom himself so not going to happen anyway.
I think Obama will use it as a bluff to get stupid people like Boehner and McConnell to act. I don’t think he would use it at this time. I do believe he will have no qualms in issuing the pardon during the lame duck session in December 2016, if a Republican is coming in. That is when he will be at his most dangerous.
So, illegals, if he grants this pardon head for home that same day and save yourselves a lot of future grief.
Then you can get in line and apply to come legally like everyone else.
Let him do it, call this weasel’s bluff....
The illegals are not US citizens so they cannot be “Pardoned”.. Pardoning an illegal would be like pardoning an enemy combatant...
It would be an act of TREASON!
He just had a caller who was making the same point I was, and he disputed the caller. He said he would have to check on it, but then a few minutes later, came back on to mention the draft dodger thing as a precedent for pardoning future crimes. He is accepting the notion that a pardon could make the illegals legal. I believe he will change his mind on that once Mark Levin gets hold of him.

The illegals will believe they have been granted amnesty and are now legal and that is all that matters.
Tell them different and there will be race riots in every city of the US.
The only thing a community organizer is good for is orchestrating civil unrest.
Is the prediction based on anything solid, or did he pull it out of his nether regions?
