The solar events caused brief blackouts in high frequency communications when they struck, twice on Tuesday morning and once this morning, all between the hours of 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. EDT.

I meant on Friday, not tomorrow. I lost a day for a second there. Must be x-ray flares.

It's a Friday the 13th, and a full moon.
What could possibly happen?
I was born on a Friday the 13th, BTW. ;)

I’m in the middle of reading “One Second After”, a fiction on the effects and aftermath of an EMP event. Good read.

Ah yes, the de rigueur bi-annual sky is falling, uh, I mean solar flares are falling, alarmist KommieMedia story is upon us once again. Naturally, to be alternated with the bi-annual “the coffee crop is failing” and bi-annual “the chocolate crop is failing” stories. Of course, not once has any of his actually happened, but hey, these guys are bound to be right sooner or later if they just keep repeating this nonsense for a few decades.
But on the other hand, fortunately, there’s a brand new KommieMedia alarmist category to relieve the tedious boredom of repeating the above “news stories” ad nauseam, namely the “killer computer virus” story. You know, the one that never damages very many computers except for the poor suckers convinced they need to uninstall the “insecure” Java or Flash plugins from their browsers and then wonder why they can no longer surf the web.
