Tennessee State Rep. Joe Carr, who is challenging incumbent Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-TN), predicted that Alexander will go the way of House Majority Leader Rep. Eric Cantor in an appearance on CNBC's "Squawk on the Street" on Wednesday.
Carr stated, Sen. Alexander has a similar problem that Leader Cantor had in that he's out of touch with his Republican base in Tennessee.
Like Cantors primary challenger, Dave Brat, Carr says that immigration is a strong area of contrast between him and his primary challenger, he declared the problem Lamar Alexander has and so many of the establishment Republicans have, is they are taking themselves away or are detracting from what the Republican National Committee platform in 2012 specifically says, and when it says no amnesty at all for illegal immigrants, and so it's Lamar Alexander who's running away from the Republican platform and its conservatives in the tea party trying to embrace that Republican National Committee platform.
He also pointed to Alexanders vote for ObamaCare funding, arguing if ObamaCare is an attack on Constitution, it stands to reason that Lamars vote is also an attack on the Constitution. Carr declared that Republican voters want a candidate who will stand and defend the Republican National Committee platform instead of running to the Democrats in capitulation, and hopes to send a message to incumbents that when they reject that platform the day after they get elected, then the voters the next time around are going to reject them.

I hope that Alexander is not facing five or six different conservatives.
MUCH MUCH tougher on a State level and a danger to make a comparison ... but I hope so.
There are a lot of Tennessee Republicans who think that Alexander should not have run again. Everyone expects him to win but everyone I talk to also intends to vote for his opponent in the primary.
No, Carr is his only serious competitor. Lamar got in because two conservatives split the ticket in 2002. Not going to happen again.
I completely agree, winning a primary in a republican dominated district is not remotely the same as winning a statewide race... Even in the primaries.
Time will tell.
There is a lot of work to do in getting Joe Carr’s name out there. I guarantee you that East Tennessee is voting Alexander 4-1 over Carr. He needs to get his message out.
We can only hope. I’d be happy if what happened to Cantor energized McDaniel’s base in Mississippi.
Ah. Good to know.

He needs to campaign in west and middle TN. Knoxville and Chattanooga will go for Lamar.
Two dates to remember or jot down:
June 24 Primary runoff McDaniel/Cochran in Miss.
August 7 (a Thursday) Tennessee Primary Carr/Alexander
Go Joe!
A big difference is that Cantor is a loud mouth, but Alexander shuts up. Often a candidate is saved by not hurting themselves with their own mouth.
Therefore, there needs to be a strong Tea Party effort to let the public know why Alexander needs to be replaced.
They don’t need a defeat so soon after such a big win.
Not this time. There were some loosely coordinated efforts to pick ONE conservative, and the potential candidates played ball. Joe Carr is the challenger. GO CONTRIBUTE!
