A Texas court ruled Thursday to overturn the conviction of former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-Texas), who was found guilty of money laundering in 2010.
According to KHOU 11 and the Associated Press, the Third Court of Appeals in Austin said the case's evidence was "legally insufficient to sustain DeLay's convictions," formally acquitting the former congressman on charges of money laundering and conspiracy to commit money laundering.

Arrowhead.
what you write is true.
with that said.
I obey lots of laws I don’t like.
perhaps Tom Delay thinks otherwise?
The law DeLay supposedly broke was NOT on the books when he allegedly broke the law. It went into effect years later, but that is what ronnie earle based his investigation on.
Remember what the dims say: It's not the evidence that matters, it is the seriousness of the charge.
AMEN!
the story I heard is....
the law was repealed after DeLay’s supposed issues.
Thank you, deport, for the latest news on the appeal..
The article posted was a 2013 article.
I wish they would hurry up!
When will the Texas House impeach that partisan, criminal Prosecutor? Ever? Why does the GOP never fight back?
The 2013 ruling may well stand but the appeal ruling has yet to be issued. Take care.
I know...I am hoping the 2013 ruling stands.
Ronnie Earle should serve time in jail instead.
IMHO
Do we really want to be piling on the Democrat memes against the best minds in politics? Often it is by mistakes that people go from being fools to being wise.
The issue is that all of his opponents, Republican, Democrat or otherwise, will be piling that video on him over and over and over. It will be brought up over and over when he doesn’t want to compromise with the Dems over something by the press - asking why then and not now, why are you now being unreasonable, etc., etc.
The mere existence of that video cripples him.
Well, next Majority Leader will get elected next week!!!! If the winner is current member of the leadership that will open up their post as well.

The winner will have a leg up in December for the “full term”.
Hensarling is considering running. Not a lot of time to decide.
Defeating McCarthy for the position is of paramount importance.
No likey McCarthy eh. He’s not mentioned much around here.
Sessions might run, which is worse?
Hammer Time baby!!!!!!!
Both.
Well Hensarling, unfortunately, is out. McCarthy and Sessions might end up the only candidates.
Where’s the white knight? It will be embarrassing if members critical of the current leadership complain but none of them step up and run.
The election for Whip appears to be on regardless of whether McCarthy is elevated or not, I don’t know why. Steve Scalise is said to the strong favorite. Pete Roskam might oppose him.
If Price actually is interested in running for Speaker, shouldn’t he run fir Leader first?
I don’t know.
Well, Sessions (whom I don’t think I would favor over McCarthy anyway) is out. Raul Labrador is in. Not good enough for Steve King, who tweets that Labrador is “pro amnesty”.
And Marlin Stutzman enters the race for Whip against Scalise and Roskam.
