How did the No. 2 man in the House lose a primary? Chalk it up to immigration and the Tea Party. Its one of the most shocking losses in U.S. electoral historyand its bad for America. Heres the thing: Eric Cantor did not fall asleep in this race. He spent around $5 million. He ran lots of TV ads. He knew this was going to be a close one. He campaigned. And he still got creamed.
And heres the other thing: Cantor was not an enemy of the Tea Party. He was in fact the Tea Partys guy in the leadership for much of the Barack Obama era. He carried the tea into the speakers office. And still he got creamed.

“go tea party”....
As for Brat’s victory tonight, Laura Ingraham reports that Jenny Beth Martin(Tea Party Patriots) wouldn’t even return Brat’s phone call.
And that the other TP orgs didn’t support him either.
I say it’s a win for WE THE PEOPLE..and the Tea Party that we’ve known and loved better get their stuff together very quickly or they will be toast too.

I rather enjoy the panic in the author's piece even if he a totally clueless wannabe. If he refers to the voters who elected Brat as "these people" he's confessing he doesn't really understand them to begin with. He's bright enough to identify the issue, though: the idea that enticing hordes of children over the border to become pawns of domestic politics would be unsavory for any political movement; that it is the policy of the sitting government is not simply unsavory, it is disgusting and alarming. And the idea that "these people" are alarmed by it only raises the question of why in the world he isn't?

VA has open primary, too. Comparing tonight’s VA election with the one in SC is kind of apples and oranges. A primary in one, single, fairly conservative congressional district is a completely different animal than a state-wide Senate primary.
