RICHMOND, Va. — Dave Brat, a local economics professor, toppled House Majority Leader Eric Cantor on Tuesday night in the most shocking primary defeat since Republicans took the House in 2010.
The conservative challenger’s victory halts one of the most meteoric rises in national politics, and illustrates the strong anti-incumbent fever that has taken over Cantor’s Richmond-area district. Cantor is the second House incumbent to lose this primary season — Texas GOP incumbent Ralph Hall was defeated by a tea-party backed challenger at the end of May.
Cantor’s defeat not only reorders Virginia politics, where Cantor was the highest-ranking Republican, but it completely throws the House Republican leadership into flux. Cantor, 51, was long seen as the next speaker of the House after John Boehner retires.

Cantor has plenty of time to do damage before the door hits him in the butt.

Fox reported that cantor called in to their headquarters to say amnesty is still on the table and will be pushed through!!! Auggggggghhhh!

I think he may not be trusting his internal polling about now.
He’s at 61% and will probably keep dropping...hopefully.
I’m a born and raised Virginian. Its been pretty bleak around here lately what with Bozo the Kaine, Lurch Warner and Gov. MacRat. But in the last few days a Dem state Sen. retired which turned over the senate and will stop Gov. MacRat, and now Cantor gets blown out. Things are looking up around here!
There’s more to come. This isn’t merely a Virginia phenomenon. I’m still convinced that the 2014 elections are going to be a watershed event for conservatism. We won’t win ‘em all, but we will be a driving force that cannot be denied going forward.
