Genuine cultural and moral revolutions are exceedingly rare in human history, but that's precisely what all of us are living through right now on the issue of marriage. Thanks to the ruling of a U.S. District Court last Friday, Wisconsin became the 20th state (plus the District of Columbia) with legalized same-sex marriage. (The Wisconsin ruling won't be enforced until later this month.)
The speed and accelerating pace of change has been breathtaking. Ten years ago, same-sex marriage was legal in just one state (Massachusetts). By the end of 2012, seven more states had permitted homosexuals to marry. Then the flood gates opened, with eight more states flipping by the end of 2013. Wisconsin was the fourth to flip this year, with court rulings pending in seven more states. At this rate, Nate Silver's 2013 prediction that by 2020 voters in 44 states would be willing to vote in support of same-sex marriage may prove to be too conservative.
But that doesn't mean opponents of same-sex marriage have given up the fight. While many champions of traditional marriage have conceded their loss and fallen back to a position of defending their religious freedom to dissent from the growing social and legal consensus in favor of gay marriage, others are less conciliatory.

It’s not “legal.” No laws were changed in the majority of these states.
When large corporations decided they were going to push this, that’s when it became inevitable.
In a few years, bit will be a lot harder to find people who won’t enthusiastically endorse it. People realize they will be fired and shunned otherwise.
I believe in the integrity of a ords. The word ‘marriage’ meant the union of a man and a woman.........for Millenia. What definition will be changed next ? To make a Dem group feel better about themselves.
Traditional marriage will eventually reassert as the most viable of human institutions. Absolutely every other form of “marriage” ever proposed or attempted has eventually been discarded for what it is - a fad and essentially, a dead-end, so far as its biological function is concerned.
Of course, human being are not only biological beings, and some day, the actual propagation of the young will be at least partially diverted into technologically highly specialized methods, but this shall by no means be utilized by the vast majority of humanity. The exercise of these variant forms of “marriage” exist more as a faux protest against conventional and normal human interchanges arising from immaturity, than as any practical expression of humanity.
Every civilization that has embraced these new “modern” methods of exercising interpersonal connections has eventually abandoned them, because of the very abrasive nature of most people’s personalities. The polish of civilization eventually wears even the most abrasive into a smoother and more mutually respectful aspect, like stones tumbling in a turning cylinder.
It is called “achieving maturity”. Wisdom always triumphs in the end, though sometimes it is hard-earned.
Uh, no, God's definition of marriage is not going through a "last stand". Man's perversion of God's truth will not last.
As the singer Steve Taylor put it, "If the Lord don't care and He chooses to ignore it, Tell it to the people of Sodom and Gomorrah..."
There is no such thing as a federal marriage license therefore the feds have nothing to do with marriage. This is a states’ rights issue as defined in the 10th Amendment.
Libertarian alert
Exactly. Which is why we are wrong to embrace seemingly “conservative” wealthy individuals/corps like the Koch Bros., etc because just as soon as there is money in it, they will become as secular, liberal, and disgusting as they can be.
There will always be traditional marriage. As with the history of Christians and Jews, it may disappear from the public eye, but it will still be around. Simply because it is God’s design and nothing else works.
This man wishes, but hardly.
If anyone wonders how this madness made its way into polite society, they need look no further than this writer: Damon Linker. He posed as a conservative to infiltrate and undermine the Catholic leaders he later described - to his leftist, atheist buddies - as “theocons.” He should be horsewhipped, but instead he has become a celebrated commentator on trendy social causes like gay marriage.
This is essential.
“At this rate, Nate Silver’s 2013 prediction that by 2020 voters in 44 states would be willing to vote in support of same-sex marriage may prove to be too conservative.”
I don’t know if it would be 44 states, but it would certainly be in the 30s at least. That’s just looking at the popular votes and assuming the trend doesn’t accelerate faster as it is regarded more and more as a ‘civil right.’
In any case I doubt any more popular referendums are held on the issue. They probably won’t have to be or even be able to be, the judges sniffed which way the wind was blowing and started to cut out the middlemen.
Freegards
Well, nobody ever said natural selection isn’t real. Let it weed out the others.
I can’t find the website, plus Google has nothing on it. Homofascists control Google?
It’s there today, FYI.
