Hillary Clinton: We Were Dead Broke Clinton: 'We Gave Speeches to Pay Off Debt, Numerous Homes' Share Tweet Email
BY: Washington Free Beacon Staff June 9, 2014 8:40 am
Hillary Clinton, who recently raked in $5 million dollars in speaking fees in 15 months, recounted to Diane Sawyer the sad tale of her former destitution, telling her, We came out of the White House not only dead broke but in debt.
According to Clinton, she and her husband, who has made over $100 million since leaving the White House, struggled to, you know, piece together the resources for mortgages for houses, for Chelseas education, you know, it was not easy.
But, as Clintons story goes, the two hard-working, middle-class millionaires somehow managed to put food on the table in their multiple houses, even though they had to make double the money, because of, obviously, taxes, and then pay off the debts and get us houses and take care of family members.
Although Sawyer wondered if Americans would understand why Hillary Clinton needs a speaking fee of $200,000, five times the median income in this country for one speech, Clinton assured her that shes taking the high road: I thought making speeches for money was a much better thing than getting connected with any one group or company as so many people who leave public life do.

So he rushed in and grabbed a couple kneelers..........
“Dead broke” according to that other set of books. Now, if you look at their “real” books..........
Wow, they recovered from it amazingly quickly...I believe that “speaking fees” are a sophisticated money-laundering scheme. This book she wrote - I would not be surprised if some “unknown person” buys a few million copies as e-books. No landfill that way...
“Now, if you look at their real books..........”
Which ones?
Bill Clinton has collected an estimated $100 million in speaking fees since leaving the White House, with millions more in book sales from memoirs by both Hillary and Bill.
They could have a combined net worth of anywhere from $100 to $200 million.

exactly how she feels
8 years at 400k and no assets and people are gonna vote for this fool! Hey Cankles show me your food stamp app!
How can someone who is "dead broke" afford to pay for one million copies of a book she has written and warehouse them even before the book is due out?
Or shame maybe. Technically, she may have a point, but she's using indebtedness to justify her and her husband getting outrageous fees for personal appearances, so it may not be that she knows she's telling an untruth so much as she's guilty about taking the money and coming up with such a feeble excuse.
“Busted flat in Baton Rouge, waiting for a train
And I was feeling nearly as faded as my jeans...”
Sing it Hilly!!!
Of course, being an ex-President is an asset in itself that brings in a lot of money, so if they were required to estimate the value of that on their taxes, they weren't really broke.
Hahahahahaha. oh that is priceless.. Thank you for the laughs this evening
Next thing you know, she will tell us she was born in a log cabin.
bttt
BTW, why would ABC release key portions of the interview in advance, on the morning of the night it airs? Is that supposed to increase the ratings for the main event? Doubt it. I'm not a big hockey fan, but I hope that the hockey game tonight on NBC gets better ratings than the overhyped Clinton interview.
All tax returns of recent presidents can be found here... Pretty interesting. http://www.taxanalysts.com/www/website.nsf/Web/Presidential

Clinton’s 1995 Return - Business income $ 88,441
Clinton’s 1996 Return - Business income $742,852 labeled royalties on It Takes A village
Clinton’s 1997 Return - Business income $281,898 labeled royalties on It Takes A village
Without looking further at the schedules accompanying the returns, I don’t know what the $88,441 in 1995 was for but you don’t need to dig too deep to know these people were not living in poverty - WITH ALL EXPENSES IN THE WHITE HOUSE PAID FOR by us?????????
How did Diane Sawyer conveniently forget that shortly after entering the WH, these people hauled in royalties which put them on easy street? Oh! I guess they gave them to charity!
They came out of AR without a pot or a window and after a few months in the WH, they were ~~blank~~ rich! They may be smug and cunning but they aren’t too swift if they think this won’t come back to bite them in the posterior.
On a different note, I caught Chelsea Clinton giving a speech to a bunch of women on C Span on Saturday night. Needless to say, I spent about 5 minutes there. What a dolt! She barely opens her mouth and speaks with her lips nearly closed - horrible! Apparently all the beauty parlors closed up shop as she was in dire need of a shampoo and a decent hairdo.........
She didn’t mention that multi-million dollar fine Bill had to pay for his perjury conviction.
Really? Then why didn't they go into bankruptcy court to keep creditors away from them?
