People are arguing about what the United States got out of the deal that swapped five top level terrorist leaders for one American soldier who was, at best, absent from his post in a war zone. Soldiers who served in the same unit with him call him a deserter. The key to this deal, however, is less likely to be what the United States got out of the deal than it is about what Barack Obama got out of the deal. If nothing else, it instantly got the veterans' hospitals scandals off the front pages of newspapers and pushed these scandals aside on television news programs.
It was a clear winner for Barack Obama. And that may be all that matters to Barack Obama.
People who are questioning the president's competence seem not to want to believe that any President of the United States would knowingly damage this country's interests.
One of the problems of many fundamentally decent people is that they find it hard to understand people who are not fundamentally decent, or whose moral compass points in a different direction from theirs.
Many people who are painfully disappointed with President Obama have no real reason to be. The man's whole previous history, from childhood on, was shaped by a whole series of people, beginning with his mother, whose vision of America was very much like that of the Reverend Jeremiah Wright, whose church Barack Obama belonged to for 20 long years.
Obama is not a stupid man. There is no way that he could have sat in that church all that time without knowing how Jeremiah Wright hated America, and how his vision of the world was one in which "white folks' greed runs a world in need."

Yeah sure it’s been great no doubt about that. But just remember, everything’s “great” until someone comes along and wrecks everything. All I see the GOP doing is saying we can’t do nothing unless you elect more establishment republicans, when e-republicans have been a huge part of the problem. We really haven’t had a great leader since Ronald Reagan in this country and I sure don’t see any Reagan’s on the GOP-e horizon. We need a REAL strong leader to get out of this mess and no more Jeb frikkin’ Bush talk.
Do you realize your post quoted me and you sent it to yorkiemom?
I was just catching up on the thread and noticed that.
??
Bullish
“Our very best chance of NOT living in a Totalitarian State is to use the laws we have... election laws. We can vote Obama out of office.”
Obama has been elected (illegally) twice...and he isn’t running again....so NO we can’t vote him out of office, only the House and Senate can VOTE for Impeachment....to get him out. Right now the Senate is basically Liberal/Democrat majority, so don’t count on Impeachment being anything but a House Vote at this time...if it comes up at all.
“Do you realize your post quoted me and you sent it to yorkiemom?”
Sorry. Senile.
In the 80’s I was working at a naval base developing software. My fellow engineers and I had a lot of political discussions, many pertaining to education since most of us paid for private schools because we knew public schools were a problem.
We voted conservatively but since the education takeover was done behind the scenes, it didn’t matter. Much like Obama’s executive orders and how the EPA works. Unaccountable.
You have a good point -what could we have done? I really don’t know.
NP me too.
We’re on the same side here - but how do you think his election was ‘illegal’... Maybe unethical, but not illegal...(my take)
I was talking about the new elections... in two+ years we’ll be voting in a new President... Yes, it’s not possible to vote out a sitting President - I know that.
The young woman was not stupid. Truth comes out in the process of ideas rubbing against each other - it’s one beauty of our system.
Liberals have a point of view, but when they get too much power they become control freak totalitarians... and eventually create re-education and death camps. So we do have to keep an eye on them... which is different than blindly dismissing them...
Gotcha..thanks.
Because Zero only won NC by 8000 votes in actual numbers, and it has been proven that more than that number voted Democrat in NC, who were already dead.
So those votes were illegal, however at this point no one is going to do anything about it...2008-2012 is already over.
ACORN and by any other name was busy stealing votes for the past six/seven years. No telling how many dead people voted in other states.
We at FR knew from day 1 what we were getting with BO. It wasnt difficult. He still has a 37.5% approval rating.
Kackikat, do you want to know how democrats do ‘voter fraud’?
They don't vote the dead. Democrat vote the people who don't show up to vote. In the old days they would take a stack of cards, line them up, and put an ice pick over the ‘chad’ spot and hit it with a hammer. That would ‘vote’ the stack of people who didn't bother to show up to vote. The “dead” are an accidental byproduct of this type of cheating - BECAUSE the dead NEVER show up. In fact the beauty of the dead vote for us - for conservatives - is it tells us where the fraud is happening and how extensive it is... The 'more dead' in 'more precincts' the more fraud is happening.
If democrats had their way they would purge the ‘dead’ from the rolls because it shows us the extent of their cheating.
If the FBI wanted to stop voter fraud - or our perception it's still happening - all they'd have to do is seed the precincts with the highest percentage of the ‘dead’ vote... with fake names. When the nonexistent “fake names’ voted, they would have proof of fraud.
The fact the FBI;s NOT doing this hints at corruption... which would be a sad day for all of us.
“BIG difference... ONE dumb@$$ — vs— a NATIONof dumb@$$3$... “
Yes, I see your point.
Still, the way the French Revolution played out, one could make an argument that they, too, were a nation of dumbasses.
