Rather than the word “indicating,” a better choice would be “alluding.”
From the pen of the partisan master for whom truth and reality are vile representations of Obama hysteria.
Sanctimonious clap trap from the left’s amen choir.
What is crystal clear in the Bergdahl case and Benghazi is that this administration and it’s sycophants have a fundamental disconnect from the ethos of the American military. There is an attitude that, “ hey, these guys signed up for it, after all they like to fight (unlike us) so what’s the big deal if they get killed.
Get the chunder bucket.
(I’m trying to revive a revolution era term for vomit bucket)
It was universal, not partisan, the only people that thought it was a good thing were Bob “Taliban” Bergdahl and obama
In St. Paul’s Letter to Timothy:
‘For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear.’
there is the only explanation I can think of to make any sense of E J Dionne’s continued readership.
His essay here is so completely illogical
Sorry, E.J., but there was no “rush to judgment” concerning Bowe’s desertion. This has been in the news for years. What is new is that Øbama released the top 5 Taliban in custody in clear violation of the law. You might ask “what price is too high for the return of one of our soldiers?” I cannot put a precise figure on that but ... would you consider turning over Hawaii too high a price? How about walking away from Israel? Ask a soldier, “what price would be too much for your return? The life of your squad mates? The freeing of a Hitler?” Or would that soldier’s answer be “avenge me!”
In the eyes of this veteran, writing this from my V.A. ward bed, that Bergdahl is in violation of the UCMJ, which includes directives
of conduct, while captured. I view his actions as treasonous,
and therefore, I can only view his reward as echoing the reward
given to a captured VC by a South Vietnamese officer,
in the streets of Saigon (you know which picture I allude to).
How can he be a prisoner of war when no war has been declared, much less driven to win? This is no different than kidnapping cases in this country where the victims are held for years. EXCEPT—this jerk was a deserter from the military.
I see this development as a positive thing. Lefties are finally admitting we are at war.
Here’s a ghastly thought. Politico today features a long piece entitled, ‘Will Obama Ever be Popular Again. The conclusion is no, not under present conditions. A couple of situations, however, were mentioned that could life Obama’s numbers—most notably a ‘rally round the POTUS’ moment. I.e.: a major terrorist attack.
Could it be that Obama recalls how high Bush’s approval jumped after 9-11? Could he have released the five most dangerous terrorists in Guantanamo *in hopes* they would strike again? Did Lurch let the cat out of the bag when he spoke of hunting them down with drones [so Obama could be a ‘hero’ again, like he was after the Special Forces killed Bin Laden]?
The answer could be multiple ‘yeses’.
E J Dionne, is nothing more than a socialist twerp who never served in the military but likes to write about the military. There was a time when deserters got the firing squad, and if its proven in a court martial that he deserted, he should meet a similar fate.
