These people never stop, which is why leftists usually win in the end.
Sorry we have been supporting the black community. For over 50 years time for us to get repriations she has it backwards
Sure thing. Track down the descendants of each slaves owner, file an individual lawsuit in each case, and good luck proving your case.
Do we get to deduct the Trillions spent on welfare from the total?
just asking.
The fact that there is even a debate about this says a lot about the current state of civil rights in this country.
Shocking fact: All the slaves and slaveowners are dead. All the children of slaves and slaveowners are dead too. And any surviving grandchildren are in their golden years. Should we pay reparations too to the Indians for ‘stealing’ their land and killing a ton of them? Heck, since it’s ‘stolen’ we might as well give it back.
It’s madness to think that somehow the great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren of slaveowners should pay reparations to people who were not in the least bit connected to slavery. And if you want reparations for segregation, it’s already called enforced equality, AA and the Great Society with free welfare and education.
There’s only so much we can do, when a disproportionate chunk of black students refuse to learn. Doesn’t matter how much money you pump into the schools, since you can’t exactly lock them up and force them to learn. Zuckerberg’s wasted 400 million is living proof of that.
Why?
The first payment from the fund is to repay the American taxpayers for the TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS spent on affirmative action government programs since the Johnson’s GREAT SOCIETY disaster
And I’m sure they’ll get one if it means o can bolster 2016 elections. Here comes the EO.
I’m completely in accord with paying reparations. The individuals who are profiting from the unpaid labor should pay it. Only for individuals who have been enslaved too.
In other words.....NO.
Think Michael Jordan.......
The debt is paid.

Mary Frances Berry: We Need a Reparations Superfund
Gee, what do they call welfare, section 8 housing, free cell phones, food stamps, etc.? Ungrateful slobs!
Have these people secured a judgment against those they feel aggrieved them? To suggest anything else would be to suggest that a party not attached in any way to a civil suit should be held liable for it. Imagine that precedent.
I’d vote for reparations - to every single living person who had been a slave.
And a free ticket to every ‘AFRICAN American’ that doesn’t realize that, if not for the slave ancestors, they’d be running around in the African bush or being slaughtered in black on black violence throughout Africa.
In the meantime, how about the admit that it was BLACK tribal leaders in AFrica that brought and SOLD the slaves to the slavers on the coast -
Never listen to (or believe in) anyone who is so self-important that they find it necessary to use their middle name. And that goes double if they are a “Holder’s Person.”
Others point to the fact that the current U.S. government did not exist prior to June 21, 1788 when the United States Constitution was ratified. Therefore, the U.S. government inherited the institution of slavery, and cannot be held legally liable for the enslavement of Africans by Europeans prior to that time. Figuring out who was enslaved by whom in order to fairly apply reparations from the U.S. Government only to those who were enslaved under U.S. laws, would be an impossible task.
The most effective legal argument against reparations for slavery from a legal (as opposed to a moral standpoint) is that the statute of limitations for filing lawsuits has long since passed. Thus, courts are prohibited from granting relief. This has been used effectively in several suits, including "In re African American Slave Descendants", which dismissed a high-profile suit against a number of businesses with ties to slavery.
