In this week's address, President Barack Obama underscored the importance of helping to lift the burden of crushing student loan debt faced by too many Americans and highlighted the efforts he's taken to ensure we uphold America's commitment to provide a quality education for all who are willing to work for it.

“Why doesn’t someone in the House of Representatives file for impeachment?”

They are duty-bound to do so.

they are worse than Obama in shirking the Constitution since they dont

The strategy to attend a CC for two years is clearly a good option. My younger daughter did that, and - three years past her BA - she is debt free.

Interest rates on student loans before the federal government got involved? 2.7%.

Current interest rates:
- Undergraduate: 3.4%
- Graduate: 6.8%

Obama fixing the problem? That sounds about the way he operates.

The real problem has never been addressed in that universities can pretty much charge whatever tuition rate they want. My alma mater has increased tuition from $20k in 2002 to $46k i 2014. Is it worth it? Of course not.

My medical school increased tuition from 18k per year to 34k per year since 2009.

I refuse to contribute a dime to these universities given their current practices of gouging their students so that they can do whatever the heck they want.

Another problem, of course, is the number of worthless degrees being produced. The next step Obama will no doubt envision is that those who got meaningful degrees that lead to employment will begin to subsidize the tuition for all of the antropology and sociology students out there.

But since Obama hasn’t been a businessman, he doesn’t think about that principle of going for the source of the problem, and it’s hurting the rest of us.

Smart comment, and useful for arguments with libs. Oh wait, most libs haven't a clue how to run a business either. Big sigh.

The constitution is meaningless with a dictator in the White Hut, morons in congress, and activists in the judiciary.

Sums it up nicely. Hope you get posters printed.

“The students(taxpayers) will be the ones holding the bag with all that debt ,they will not get off free”

The problem is that to pay their obligations they are going to be helped by other taxpayers, including those who did not attend university - thus minimizing their personal burden. So many of these student loaners-with-worthless-degrees get to keep their degree and have their burden put on the backs of others. They should be forced to forfeit their degrees in lieu of having the fed govt write them off. It make it a crime to claim one earned a degree that has been forfeited.

As I recall as a student LBJ was asked to write about what the constitution said on education. He turned in a long treatise. The professor marked it all wrong and told him the Constitution didn’t say anything about education.

He resented the low mark and said he would work to change that. It’s too bad he didn’t learn the correct lesson.

"He resented the low mark and said he would work to change that."

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't LBJ a popular president like FDR? If such was the case, then why didn't these men use their popularity to encourage Congress to work within the framework of the Constitution by petitioning the states for amendments to the Constitution for new powers?

They’d rather have their way than follow the rules.

You’ve missed it along with most. Obama has to hold on to his base - the America-haters club - and they deeply believe that it is Congress, Republicans, conservatives, et al that are holding back their dream of Utopia. At this point it’s all Obama has, them and racialists who support him due to his apparent race.
