Majority Leader Eric Cantor offered a new explanation for why he supports granting amnesty to individuals brought into the country illegally as minors, often called DREAMers in reference to the DREAM Act.
It's Biblical, he said in a local radio interview.
Ive always said that theres a Biblical root and a tradition in this country that says we dont hold children liable for their parents acts and when you have kids who may have been brought here lets say at 2 months old unbeknownst to them and theyve been here all their lives and they want to serve in our military, my position has been I agree with that principle, he said. They should be allowed to serve in our military and be allowed to become part of this country as a citizen, but not their parents. Not the ones who committed the illegal act. So this is the difficulty, Cantor said this week on The John Fredericks Show.
Cantor went on say that Obamas intransigence is the reason there has not yet been immigration reform.
The president has said he doesnt want to pursue this type of a first step approach he doesn't want to pursue a path that would say lets do the things we can agree on and insist instead on a blanket amnesty bill, the Virginia Republican said. And Im opposed to that and as long as the president says my way or the highway all or nothing, we cant get anything done.
Cantor also spoke about his opposition to the Senate Gang of Eight bill.
Ive always opposed Harry Reid and Barack Obamas amnesty bill coming out of the Senate, he said.

Cantor is as corrupt as any Democrat, and will have lots of dead people voting for him. I don’t see him losing, but I sure hope he does.
Fleecing US tax-payers is not biblical.
Biblical would be to hold the Mexican government responsible for it’s own citizens. Anything else is irrational.
Cantor is an unrefined scumbag.
This Clown must be compromised, I wonder what $ shenanigans $ he got caught up in and whom is pulling his string?
So lets see if the Bible says anything about the concept that illegal aliens shouldnt be the people who decide who will be a US citizen.
Because thats who made the decision: their parents, who decide that their offspring will be part of our nation whether we like it or not.
He seems to have the natural ability to piss off a lot of people.
Cantor has a bright future.............as a democrat.
John 10:1
Very truly I tell you Pharisees, anyone who does not enter...by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber.
This verse combined with the Romans 13 passage, that Bryan24 has already mentioned, makes it very clear that Cantor is wrong.
Perhaps we should just stone him to death... that’s biblical too
I am not sure superseded is the right word although I know what you mean.
Well, he is Jewish, so he can’t be expected to know the New Testament.
True Sola Federal Scriptura
Biblical, hmmmm, like the plagues? I’ll go along with that amnesty is just like the biblical plagues of boils, frogs, lice, locusts, flies. Hell yeah I can see where cantors coming from in this light, amnesty is truly biblical in relation to the plagues of Egypt!
It is vexing to witness public officials of high rank misquoting Scripture or certainly mischaracterizing it. Whatever one thinks of the immorality of visiting punishment for the sins of the fathers onto the sons, mischaracterizing the Bible does not inspire confidence in the perspicacity of people like Cantor. If he wants to make a secular argument he should do so but he should not resort to mangling the Bible and two of the world's great religions to do so.
The parents of the dream stealers should be held accountable not the innocent American parents of children who also dream.
Note that Cantor does not quote any Scripture that I read.
Earache Cuntor is right. It is biblical...as in the end times.
