I guess that
poll last night convinced them to rethink this.

They couldn’t buy enough security for the event.

"manage" . . .the necessary security to manage such an event would be massive. Perhaps this is why

Would have loved to see the protests. And that is why I think it was cancelled. I think they realized the parade would be attended by people that wished to express their displeasure, in a legal manner protected by the First Amendment.

I think a lot of protesters would have shown up, which is why they said they couldn’t handle the number of people that would show.
Probably 5 protesters to every person celebrating.

I wondered about that. As a Jew, King would have been among the first to lose her head to those who Bergdahl was assisting. Although the left, including way too many Jews, still seems supportive of jahadis so long as they’re anti-American.

A real shame, particularly after the town invited Mullah Omar to officiate the homecoming celebrations.

Carole King and other may have been doing it for the right reasons- they may noy have known the full story.

I don’t know if it was Bergdahl’s personal politics that were a big issue to her, but I think any entertainer would step back at a moment like this and wait to see how the cards play before becoming more entangled in the controversy/scandal.
Originally she was just going to play at a concert to raise awareness. Then it became one to celebrate his release. His release isn’t quite what was originally hyped.

The city knows how to discourage protesters. Hire the Westboro Democrats to “protest”. No one would stand with them but a whole lot would become “counter protesters”. Media wouldn’t need to get into who was protesting “what”.

The town was taking a lot of heat ... to the extent the mayors office was deluged with e-mails and phone calls criticizing the town for their plans to welcome this US Army deserter back as a some sort of hero. Further, with the towns proximity to Sun Valley, Idaho many hotels were experiencing cancellations during the busy tourist season.
The backlash from patriotic Americans incensed by Obama’s ploy to divert attention away from the VA scandal by trading 5 hardcore al-Qaeda Gitmo prisoners for this sorry low life Army deserter is working in many ways ... justifiably so.
