NBC's Gregory to Ben Carson: 'Very Highly Charged' to Demand Gov't Follow Constitution
MRC ^ | 6/3/2014 | Kyle Drennen

Posted on 06/04/2014 8:37:20 AM PDT by Cheerio

In an interview with Dr. Ben Carson for Meet the Press's web-based feature Press Pass, NBC host David Gregory dismissed Carson's call for "a government that placed the Constitution of the United States at the highest level": "There are some people who say that. That's a very highly charged thing to say. Where is the Constitution not placed in the right level today?" [Listen to the audio]

Carson gave Gregory a dose of reality: "Because it helps to define what the role of the government is. It doesn't include being in every aspect of our lives....when you take people who are perfectly capable of doing things and you pat them on the head and then you say, 'There, there, you poor little thing, we're going to take care of this and this, you won't have anything to worry about.'"

Earlier in the exchange, Gregory actually lectured Carson on the importance of big government for African-Americans: "Government intervention certainly mattered for African-Americans legislatively, through the judiciary. And certainly beyond just African-Americans, the idea of government stepping in to help people who are being left behind certainly shows evidence of working. Do you agree with that? Is that a fundamental role for government?"

It's perfectly clear what big government liberal policies have done to black Americans and are now doing to all Americans, and only a Klan sympathizer (democrats are the party of big government and of the Klan, so I may be onto something) could look at these results without cringing.

Who is David Gregory?

A unindicted felon who blatantly violated the DC gun laws I'm sure he champions.

“...the people that SHOULD be listening .. aint...”

True.

But, this group is completely inimical to Conservatism. So even IF they would listen, they are positively conditioned to reject what they hear!

Schools and the MSM have put the zap on their brains. They are so far compromised, and beyond reclaiming.

I sometimes wonder even IF a national emergency or some other wholesale setback to the US would shake them out of their blind, irreversible and hidebound dedication to Liberal idiocy!

The problem is, he only makes a fool of himself to people like the folks here at Free Republic. Most of American is simply not paying attention, and we are not going to get their attention as long as we let the media define the argument. IMHO, the first thing he should have attacked is Gregory’s assertion of the “Left behind.” As long as we allow them to define a segment of the population as such, we can’t win. The only time people are left behind is when the government is picking winners. He should have first attacked that assertion, and lets get the argument where it belongs.

The actions of the Government (and specifically the Judiciary) during the 19th Century were basically to redress policies that were contrary to our Founding principles ... The continuing use of Gov’t as the agency of change to “rig the game” in favor of ANY one group over another is also counter to these principles, as defined by the Constitution.

If you point out those stats to a “feel good about myself” sheeperal, they’ll act as if you’ve just slapped them across the face.

They really do have their sense of righteousness wrapped up in supporting gov’t policies that “help people”.

That's my anxiety ... not really afraid ... just anxious for something to 'break' so I can hop in.

When I was in school (a couple'a millenia ago .. ) we 'went outside' on any little provocation ... SOMEone was embarrassed in front of the girls .. and it was all over.

Things 'happened' pretty quick ...

How did we get so .... legislative in our attitude(s) ?

Why yes, David! Absolutely! You’re so right!

Now, go drive alone in all sections of our largest cities, at night, and talk to the folks it’s working for.

Hey, who needs rules and laws? We've got a president who wants to do good....isn't that enough? And if those nasty, rich conservatives don't want to fork over their dough for all the great programs King Barack demands er wishes, then it's only for the sake of SOCIAL JUSTICE!!! that their money must be taken from them...forcibly if need be.

proviso: the wealth-extracting measures will not apply to wealthy liberals. They too, like His Royal Highness King Barack, want to do good.

Actually, no it doesn’t. The actual results of this have been devastating to “African American” families.

More than devastation - absolute destruction. How the War on Poverty has Destroyed Fatherhood, the American Family, and Especially the Black Family and has Increased Poverty

I graduated from University of Maryland University College (UMUC) in 2004. He was the speaker. I never heard of him and I was very apprehensive that I would have to sit through some anti-American diatribe. Wow! I was blown away by what he said.

Big Government run by Democrats oppressed African Americans before it saved them.

Jim Crow era Laws were supported by the Supreme Court of the United States before it reversed itself some years later.

Liberals lie and lie and lie...

Bolshie think is, that, The Constitution says we can elect a President. After that we can ignore it and only take direction from the President, as long as he is a Bolshie.
