A Pentagon investigation concluded in 2010 that Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl walked away from his unit, and after an initial flurry of searching the military decided not to exert extraordinary efforts to rescue him, according to a former senior defense official who was involved in the matter.
Instead, the U.S. government pursued negotiations to get him back over the following five years of his captivity a track that led to his release over the weekend.
Bergdahl was being checked and treated Monday at a U.S. military hospital in Germany as questions mounted at home over the swap that resulted in his freedom in exchange for the release of five detainees who were sent to Qatar from the U.S. prison at Guantanamo, Cuba.
Even in the first hours of Bergdahl's handoff to U.S. special forces in eastern Afghanistan, it was clear this would not be an uncomplicated yellow-ribbon celebration. Five terrorist suspects also walked free, stirring a debate over whether the exchange would heighten the risk of other Americans being snatched as bargaining chips and whether the released detainees several senior Taliban figures among them would find their way back to the fight.

“they got five Taliban leaders - we got one deserting weasel”
LOL, he sure knows his plies. Great photo for a now infamous deserter loser. Putin will not want Bergdahl like he wanted Snowden, even though the Bolshevoy is recruiting.
I wonder whether he will even make it home from his debrief in Germany.Maybe he to will go to Qatar.Obama will not want him talking to the press in the run up to November.
Thats a movie I would have to see. OOOoops, we are already seeing it!
When Bergdahl deserted, and the entire group agrees that he did desert, (Not got drunk, etc.) his leader heard radio traffic (standing in the radio room) about him in some village asking if anyone could be an interpreter as he wanted to talk to the Taliban.
After he was gone, the attacks on the Americans became better. Instead of IEDs missing their marks, they were hitting the vehicles. Instead of random gunfire attacks on convoys, ambushes were much more planned and effective. This team leader conjectured that Bergdahl was filling them in on our tactics. Of course nothing that he could prove, but he, and others, immediately thought this upon seeing a pattern develop of more effective tactics by the enemy.
Showing signs of photophobia and considerable weight loss.
The soldiers that served with the traitor had to sign documents that they would not talk about what actually happened. The families of those that died trying to find him were lied to about the circumstances of their deaths- were told they were killed trying to capture a Taliban leader. Libs thought they had the bases covered to portray this traitor as a hero. The soldiers that signed the papers not to tell the truth became angry when they realized he was going to be considered a hero so they spoke out. Many feel the documents no longer apply since he has been recovered and some feel they may get into hot water. We the people owe tons of gratitude to those that have come forward and we need to make sure they do not get in trouble for doing so.

The uncut version.
Let’s keep an eye on these heroes and make certain there isn’t any retribution because there will be.
I guess he was buggered. That could be the reason he deserted, his HIV positive status was about to be discovered by the US Army?
And one wonders why the US military now allows openly gay conduct of its members?/S
They desert?
