She's been nicknamed "Rat Girl" by the people who've followed her behavior over the years. But officials told KTVU the situation is no laughing matter because her affection for rats could endanger her health and the health of the San Francisco public...

Were they an endangered species?
How is this any different than cities that encourage safe sheltering of illegal immigrants?

While authorities are trying to keep track of a San Francisco woman who was breeding rats in her room at a residential hotel and releasing them in public parks, they say their hands are tied as far as trying to stop her. They're lying. A big rat problem justifies a more powerful animal control bureaucracy with a bigger budget.

...they say their hands are tied as far as trying to stop her. Yeah, well, they could pass an ordinance against it, but they are too busy banning plastic bags.
Priorities.

There’s certainly enough garbage there for the rats to eat.
Lets hope the rats dont get confused about what they’re eating

I like rats, and keep them as pets, but this woman’s actions are very disturbing and irresponsible since rats, unchecked, quickly become pests that can spread disease and pose a danger to the public. I’m sure there’s a law on the books somewhere they can cite similar to California restrictions on ferrets, but mentally disturbed people seem to be the only animal on the lib’s endangered species list.
