Sudanese authorities are to free a woman who was sentenced to death for having abandoned the Islamic faith, a foreign ministry official says.
Meriam Ibrahim, who gave birth to a daughter in custody, will be freed in a few days' time, the official said.
Abdullahi Alzareg, an under-secretary at the foreign ministry, said Sudan guaranteed religious freedom and was committed to protecting the woman.

She refused to renounce her Christianity and was sentenced to death by hanging for apostasy.
Well, that’s a relief. I think there was so much outcry about this that even the Obama regime (which essentially supports the Sudan through foreign aid) couldn’t ignore it and probably told Sudan to let her go. Her husband and child are American citizens, btw.
More good news today! Thanks.
PRAISE the Lord! He has answered many prayers and glorified Himself. She had just given birth to a little baby girl in that wretched prison. Prayers continue!
So, she’ll be free, but is she going to live in Sudan?
If so, that does not make her “free”. What’s to stop any Islamist out there (of which there are many) from killing her after she gets out of jail?
GREAT NEWS!!!
Excellent question.
And certainly no praise or thanks goes to Obama who apparently did NOTHING for this woman.
I'll give him the benefit of the doubt on this one. But all Praise clearly goes to the LORD. Maybe He sent nightmares in the right places and got people to do the right thing.
Prayers that she and her baby get out of Dodge post haste.
Oddly enough, it occurred to me that what Sudan could do is free the woman, and then order her ‘deported’ to the United States, never allowed to return to Sudan.
The equivalent of “Don’t throw me in the briar patch”.
And that wouldn’t surprise me to see that happen.
Certainly though, very good news.
Praise the Lord!
It’s a pity we couldn’t have traded Obama for her.
If this is true I pray God’s protection on her, children and husband as I read once somewhere that if she was freed she might not make it out safely. Hope that was not true.
God be with them..........and maybe our military should also be there
Will she keep her children and be allowed to bring them up in her faith?
Exactly. It would go against his character.
Praise the Lord. This is a wonderful answer to prayer!!!
Mark Steyn has been pounding hard about this for the last two weeks. I think HE is more responsible for getting this woman free than anyone else.
this is all very confusing. I read that her husband lives in New Hampshire, so why is she even there in the first place? I missed that part of the story. No matter what, I hope she can get out of there and rejoin her husband in America.
