Edward Snowden says he was trained 'as a spy'

Former U.S. spy agency contractor Edward Snowden, who leaked details of massive U.S. intelligence-gathering programs, said in a U.S. TV interview he "was trained as a spy" and had worked undercover overseas for U.S. government agencies.

In an advance excerpt of his interview in Moscow with "NBC Nightly News" that aired on Tuesday, Snowden rejected comments by critics that he was a low-level analyst.

"Well, it's no secret that the U.S. tends to get more and better intelligence out of computers nowadays than they do out of people," Snowden told NBC news anchor Brian Williams.

"I was trained as a spy in sort of the traditional sense of the word in that I lived and worked undercover overseas - pretending to work in a job that I'm not - and even being assigned a name that was not mine."

Describing himself as a "technical expert," Snowden said: "I don't work with people. I don't recruit agents. What I do is I put systems to work for the United States. And I've done that at all levels from - from the bottom on the ground all the way to the top."

I predict he will start talking and lose any support he had.

From the little we know..

Snowden has not realized personal gains from the data he has.
Snowden released that data to those that paid for the capability, the American Taxpayers.
Snowden has enabled the American people to learn what their Government is doing at home

He’s a tough one. We had some hints of what the NSA was doing before this. Wired had an article about it as well as did other sources.

We had no idea it was as extensive as it is. We didn’t really know about the secret courts activities.

Did his actions help our enemies, yes. Do MSNBC, NYT, ABC, NBC, and a host of other organizations help our enemies? Yes

In the end he released what our govt was doing against us. Not against terrorists in the US, against people on FR solely for the reason we post on FR.

You know I wonder if he has any documents on Obamas legal status. But then I thought if he did, he would not be alive.

if he did, he would not be alive.

Snowden is probably on a secret hit list.

Sorry to say ... I'd estimate that probablity being greater than 90%.

There’s a man who leads a life of danger
To everyone he meets he stays a stranger
With every move he makes
Another chance he takes
Odds are he won’t live to see tomorrow

Secret Agent Man

They’ve given you a number and taken away your name

Edward Snowden, code name: `Jethro Bodine’: Double naught spy!

Saw part of this yesterday. Would like to see the entire incut interview !

He’s making sure IMO that someone is shaking in their boots!
Iirc prediction was he was CIA all along. What else does he know? That our government doesn’t want him to tell?

Add this to the outing of CIA head in Afganistan. Still would like to know if he or any of his agents had connections to the outpost in Bengauzi. Those people had to come from somewhere and return to somewhere ! Was this an open threat to silence them?

The NSA listens to every call within Afghanistan.
Also, check out the other Countries under surveillance.
Quite an odd basket of Countries, which also share a link to 0bama.

from Grennwald’s blog “The Intercept”

https://firstlook.org/theintercept/article/2014/05/19/data-pirates-caribbean-nsa-recording-every-cell-phone-call-bahamas/

SOMALGET is part of a broader NSA program called MYSTIC, which The Intercept has learned is being used to secretly monitor the telecommunications systems of the Bahamas and several other countries, including Mexico, the Philippines, and Kenya. But while MYSTIC scrapes mobile networks for so-called “metadata” – information that reveals the time, source, and destination of calls – SOMALGET is a cutting-edge tool that enables the NSA to vacuum up and store the actual content of every conversation in an entire country.

Brian Williams has special on tonight on Network TV, I think it’s a 10:00 Eastern... I set my DVR up, I figure I’ll want to watch it twice, once where I’m yapping and saying, did you hear that, did he just say this or that, etc. And then watch it again, without me talking, to listen very carefully.
